Ten item review of 10 Items or Less.

1. Surprisingly fun little movie.

2. It offered a well balanced story that presented a glamorous life’s need for reality against reality’s need for glamour. It was an interesting dilemma that, in the end, made a bit of sense.

3. It was in the same vein with Lost in Translation, though not quite as pessimistic or as well executed.

4. More than anything else, I learned a lot about character studies… This drew my attention to the subtler accomplishments of this character driven film.

5. Morgan Freeman pushed the over overacting limit at times, but was endearing enough to be forgiven. His wistful role was the defining element of the film. If you’re a Freeman fan, you’ll love this movie. If not, you’ll quite possibly hate every minute of it.

6. Paz Vega was lovely and convincing.

7. Another great cameo by Jim Parsons. I find myself hoping that he never takes another lead and makes a career out of the bizarre little roles.

8. The grocery store was an amazing location and Him’s research was genuinely hilarious.

9. Kumar Pallana made me feel like I was watching a Wes Anderson film… which is always a nice thing to do.

10. I am utterly convinced that Paul Simon is the new Kenny Loggins in that so many good movies coming out this decade have him on the soundtrack. A talented filmmaker would be mad not to feature one of his tracks on a music montage. This one was well placed and, I must admit, one of the better ones from Simon’s cannon.
