"What do you think? Zombie kill of the week?"

Comments:

MarvelComic114's picture

looks somewhat like Shaun of the Dead but still looks funny. Although I'm completely horrified of zombies!

I already get the feeling this movie is going to get some really bad reviews, although I have to admit, it does look funny. :?

After the main charactors are done with some of these Zombies, thats what they will be saying. Just gotta hope its rated PG-13.

I think i have a problem, i have at least 100 more posts then you, yet you joined in 2008. Thats not good is it...

It might be, but it depends on how much zombie gore they put in it. And I'd be willing to bet there will a f-bomb or two

Deathtime456's picture

Definatley a couple of F-bombs, probably some gore. Just depends on how much, did you see year 1? There were like 10 F-bombs! That was rated PG-13!

I was gonna see yr 1 but a friend of mine said it was reeeaaaaallllyy dum, and we usually agree on the liking or disliking of most movies.

And thats pretty sad

Bliss's picture

It must be rated R the website has a comepletely restricted page that requires your zipcode, name, and even a blood oath that you are not lieing...well perhaps that last part was a little exaggeriated.

See for yourself,
http://www.zombieland.com/

Yeah definitely R.
The trailer had like three F's and some nudity. I'm second guessing seeing this movie.

this looks like a american version of shaun of the dead.

What are you talking about?

He's talking about the red band trailer, which is presumably on the restricated page of the website. To make things clear, since the movie has a restricted trailer the movie will be rated R, it just hasn't been viewed yet for it to be rated.

This was great! I laughed so much! And it had The Black Keys in the soundtrack, so bonus points. Cool typography. Great cameo. Woody is hilarious again.

All around, it was a fun movie to watch. I'll definitely buy the DVD as soon as it's out!

Willie.....Nelson. You're telling me you don't know who Willie.....Nelson is.....

Willie who?

This movie is amazing....and I have coulrophobia, and found somthing hilarious about zombie clowns crawling under bathroom stalls.

"that's still tender" had to be the line that made me laugh the most. It was just so calm and not something someone in that position would say.

"Somebody wanna come help me move the couch................I'm makin a fort" :)

^^^^^ This exactly... :D

Movie was awesome only had one problem with it.

Spoilers below

No zombies. When I watch a zombie movie I expect to see some zombies. They'd only run into like 3-4 zombies at a time and the only huge horde is at the end (last 15 minutes or so?). They talk about how they're the only ones left, so theoretically, there's 6 billion or so zombies walking around, but just happen to be not where the survivors are.

I dunno, I may be too skeptic, but I loved the film none the less. Got loads of laughs from it. I'll most likely buy it when it comes out on DVD.

Jamesbloke's picture

I was a little disappointed, following all the comments here. I found myself checking my watch a couple of times during the film when there was no action or comedy stuff going on. There were a few big laughs and several titters, but they were spread so thinly. It is almost like they couldn't decide what sort of film they wanted to make - if it just alternated between action and comedy, it would have been fine. Instead there were sections of narrative, montage like sections (I'm thinking of the gift shop scene showing them bonding) - the Bill Murray section was in its own category.

That's not to say it is bad. There were plenty of great lines scattered throughout the film, there were lots of neat touches (the various film references), and it was quite refreshing to see a film carried by a cast of just 4 1/2.

Maybe I'm a tough audience! I just thought they could have done so much more with the concept. A lot of the little bits I really liked were nothing to do with the zombie concept - like the rules that would appear on screen.

I can't believe they didn't make a comment about the theme park being more fun with zombies.

At first I didn't like the movie as much as i thought i would. But it keeps getting funnier as time goes on.

I like when he offers hand sanatizer and everyone's like oh heck yeah.

I just got the lines about how picked the Browns for the superbowl, by the way.

I just watched quarantine, and guess what? No zombies. Zombie films rarely seem to contain actual zombies these days. At least zombieland's zombies were zombies.
Er. did that make sense?

Tina's picture

I found it funny and enjoyable, but agree with a lot of what you said Jamesbloke. It was a bit disjointed. I definitely still liked it though...and it was fortunately not nearly as disgusting as the opening credits made me fear.

SPOILER
One question. Did anyone else find it awfully risky when the ladies asked the guys to shoot the sister? I mean thank goodness he hesitated long enough for her to say, "wait, let me do it." That was a little too hollywood drama lucky for me.

And were they real Zombies? ;) I thought it was another "virus" situation and not a "living dead rise from the grave" thing.

Exactly what I thought! Since they never explained how they become zombies, I was beginning to think that it was some type of virus that had the same traits as Zombies.

As for the risky hesitation, It's a cliche for someone to hesiste killing someone for so long unless somthing important to the plot is about to happen.

citizenbuck's picture

The narrator said it was a mutation of Mad Cow.

Tina's picture

Yeah, that's what I remembered too Citizenbuck. I also remembered a patient Zero. So sadly, not "real" zombies. ha! What a lovely oxymoron.

Ronin's picture

I kind of like that Romero's zombies are the "real zombies" and that other people's interpretations exist, but aren't just carbon copies of Romero's ghouls.

Romero's world is rather hopeless for man, by the nature of his beast. In Romero's story, anyone that dies becomes a zombie, not just those infected. Because of this, there is no real scenario by which man could ever fully triumph. It works well for those stories, but it would limit the scope of storytelling possibility in the genre if everyone was restricted by those zombie rules. So these others creatives have made variations (that are for the most part NOT zombies, but rather "zombie-like" infected.) through which it is possible to tell new stories.

Oh yeah... patient zero bit into a bad burger at a grab & gulp or whatever their gas stations were called.

Nice that Woody's dog was called Buck.
