Iron Man was a personal favorite short to work on.  I am a fan of Jon Favreau, and I love the Iron Man movie.  The only thing I didn't enjoy about the film was the Iron Monger battle at the end.  It felt very generic, and like most super hero movies, I was never really concerned for the safety of any character in the film.  But what bothered me was how Iron Man blows up a tank earlier in the film with absolute ease, yet doesn't even try it when fighting Obidiah.  So we decided Iron Man could have easily taken out Obidiah if he really wanted to instead of dragging it out and pointlessly draining his arc reactor flying into the stratosphere giving Obidiah his long exit speech. We also wanted to bring back the classic Cafe scene since it's becoming a HISHE super hero tradition.  The problem was you can keep the scene going on and on with super hero jokes, so Tina and I had several dialog re-writes over the phone on this one.  Credits Include:  Our friend, Stephen Dowling, as Iron Man making this his second voice in a HISHE short.  Victor Van Scoit came back to play the very brief Spider-man, which I was really excited to have happen.  And  I played all of the other characters since I already do the voices of Super/Batman.  I really like Bryan's music on this one as well.  He did a really good job mixing that guitar sound with the soundtrack. So that's a quick summery for you.  Hope you guys enjoyed the short!

This was the most hilarious cafe scene you've done so far. Awesome work. :DNice Tony Stark also.

First of all, I have to sincerely thank you for this animation, it was the movie that had motivated me to make my first ever post here in this website and I always thought after Beowulf, Iron man would be next. So this is really cool, funny thing now that I realise was that I always thought you did the voice for Spiderman. Which makes it weird, because I've watched Spiderman HISHE quite a few times and never wonderd who the other people that did voices in that sketch were.I never took into consideration how he had that little tank missle that could have taken him out so easy, So this HISHE is going to make a lot fans happy. I always just hated the last battle because it seemed it was made to have Obadiah just say a bunch of "Cool sounding" one liners. So spiderman was a funny addition, I think next time if you ever have a dinner scene again, you should keep the style of the superhero films and have Stan Lee be the waiter.

I could have sworn you were spider-man...... but anyway another great job 5^5/5

I would watch the heck out of a "superhero diner" show.More comedy gold from you guys.  Great work!  NickelCrew.net

You've done it again, HISHE! Great work. I just couldn't stop smiling watching it (again).Great catch on the loophole (I had the same feelings about the ending). Appreciated the voice work - having Victor come back for the cameo was a great touch, and adding another voice in Stephen gave scope to the short. What was his first stint doing voice work for HISHE? And nobody can do Supes and Bats like Daniel!I loved the Cafe banter - great writing! I could really see the Superhero Cafe becoming a regular feature (like the comics), over and above HISHE shorts. From the sound of it, there is plenty of material..."Up top!"P.S. I spotted Kiddo in the intro (during the Marvel-like-comics-page-flip), but did anyone see him anywhere else in the short, or was that his cameo this time around?

Bliss's picture

Nah, when the Iron Monger begins his take off there are some cars and one looks like a school bus to me, and it reads KDDO (or something simialar to that, need to check it again.)

Daniel's picture

Bliss is right.  the official kiddo wasn't the one in the intro.  That was just the old Marvel-like slide intro which I put back in for Marvel sake :)   but if you guys are catching kiddo now in single frame shots, I'm going to start shortening the usual kiddo shots :)

This made me smile but thats about it. This is not a bad thing however because I faced palm myself for this ending, why couldn't I realize this before? The coffee banter wasn't the usual laughed to I cried ( "I'm batman" joke was the lame and forced) but the other banters were comedy gold to me. Other than that the voices were all superb and the art, animation was great (wonder how you animated the helmet flip). This review was mostly negative, so please don't freeze breath me.Edit: Kiddo is on a bus with the words KDO.

I love it whenever you guys go back to the whole Diner Scene! I'm with everyone else who thinks that there should be a whole Diner short. Other than that cliche comment, I like how you captured Tony Starks personality perfectly in this short. Then again, Tony Stark is pretty much a comedy goldmine when it comes to parodying. Also, why is it that nobody, in any short, parody, or skit, ever shows spidey any love?

This vid was very good! With that huge body suit on, traveling that slow would have been more realistic.  And yeah, why didn't Stark just use his super awesome missiles? Just because in a superhero film you never just kill off the bad guy right away, but need to let him have his monologue and "accidently" somehow kill him.  This was so much better! And the cafe scene was priceless!  It does seem like they don't like Spidey so much...wonder why that is *cough cough* XD

I speard the word of iron man hishe to Jon favreau on twitter hope you don't mind.

I hate to say this, but I didn't like it; it didnt make me laugh.

Spud's picture

^While I may not have laughed at it; it brought back memories of the movie and made me think. Like all the other shorts, which is why I love 'em.  Personally, in the list of my top favorite HISHEs.

On ABC this morning, there was an interview with Robert Downey Jr. and they showed a small clip from Iron Man 2 that really made me laugh. Because it was Nick Fury and Tony Stark having a humorous conversation in a cafe, and it looked a lot like the one in HISHE. Just made me laugh.

Daniel's picture

Yes!  I like to pretend that whole scene was made because Favreau saw the HISHE cafe scene and became inspired.  HA. :)

I didn't think he did that because at that time he was running low on power and couldn't use his weapons.  That being said, I still loved the short as I do the rest of them.  Probably just nitpicking though cuz Iron Mans a movie I know inside and out.

Congratulations man, once again, excelent job!! the video was hilarious, and the ending with batman and superman, even better hahaha.Regards from brazil!P.S.: I'm sending the link to all of my friends, both here and Argentina, hopefully i't will give you some additional fans ;o)

awesome! thanks! we appreciate the support.

man i love your videos its very funny

I enjoyed this short tremendously. You guys are the best, keep up the great work. The image of Batman and Superman sitting around chewing the fat about superherodom has been making me smile all week.(and to the previous poster, while it is true that Iron Man was running on minimal power from the old reactor, the missile he fired earlier in the movie appeared to have its own self-contained propellant -independent of the reactor-, and even if it hadn't, the power required to slingshot that tiny payload a few yards would almost be certainly less than the amount required to propel Tony Stark and his metal suit into the upper layers of the atmosphere. It appears I have now overanalyzed a movie that wasn't taking itself that seriously, but the point is HISHE's version of events would have been awesome AND plausible.)

Daniel's picture

That's a very intelligent analysis.  I was really just starting the scene based on the moment where Jarvis tells Tony "Sir it appears his suit can fly" and his first reaction is fly straight up and drain the arc reactor.  At the point he takes off Jarvis even says they are down to like 12% capacity which he is plenty to fly into the stratosphere apparently.  But it's not till Stark does the whole "how'd you fix the icing problem" line and knocks Obidiah on the head that Jarvis finally reminds him that they now have 2 percent power left which he barely flies back to earth. So I feel he had plenty of power to aim and shoot if he could almost leave the earth's atmosphere.

When Jebadiah says something like "Hey man, this is a brand new suit." was he supposed to sound like the dude (a.k.a the big leibowski), which if he was, I think is brilliant, and if he wasn't, I still think is hilarious.

Tina's picture

Yes, he was supposed to sound like the dude.  You're the first person to catch it! :)

I didn't even notice the Dude's voice when I saw the short the first 4 or 5 times. It was only when I was playing poker and day dreaming between hands that it hit me out of the blue for some reason. Excellent job on the short, and especially with capturing the essence of the Tony Stark charachter from the movie:  "tank missle".  While HISHE has always been great & funny, I really think you guys are starting to become true masters of your comedic genre now that we are seeing multiple levels of humor and reocurring themes/jokes.

I LOVED  IT!!! everything! especialy the cafe scene :)) great job summerizing Tony Stark too.
