Return of the Jedi was an important short for me personally. The first short that really put HISHE on the map was Star Wars, A New Hope. In a way, star wars helped mold the HISHE brand. Although it wasn't the first HISHE, it was the first short that really established the style of shorts we'd produce from then on. So it symbolizes really the beginning of HISHE as a whole. But Jedi is also personally a monumental flick for me. Jedi was the first film I saw in a theater. And not this special edition stuff I'm talking about when it was new. I had seen starwars, but Jedi was the first movie theater experience I ever had. So looking back now remembering that fact, that explains a lot in regards to the stress and importance I put on this short with my desire to make it good.

This short took me through the ringer. There was always an intention to make 3 Star Wars Spoofs, a trilogy, but like the predecessors the challenge of creating SW jokes that haven't been done before felt like an impossible feat. And as if the trilogy isn't controversial enough with all the constant changes and re-edits, what side do we pick? Original Trilogy? Special Edition? There's so much to think about, so many possibilities. Well... you've got one month, so pick a direction and go. So that's what we did. In then end I absolutely love this short. With all of the personal things happening in the HISHE circle a short of this scale shouldn't have been possible, but somehow it fell into place, and that makes me love it even more.

Adrian Neely, for sounding so much like Samuel L. Jackson it scares me, who also sent his voice at a moments notice and saved the day.

And last, Bryan English, who writes music for our shorts, but has continuously created music without seeing a single frame of video lately. He made all of the music for this short without even knowing the script. All he had was some brief descriptions and some soundtrack references. The final product is outstanding.

So I couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off our HISHE year. Thank you all that helped me finish this short. It has been a jam packed last few weeks. People having babies, People going on Trips, People getting sick, people recovering... I didn't think we'd make it. And with all the previously stated pressure to make Jedi a memorable short, I think it's safe to say it was definitely that. I'm so pleased. With that, I hope others enjoy the short as well.
