Titanic marks our 100th video. I wish it was officially our 100th HISHE, but we've still got a few more to go for that title. Either way, I am very excited to see that Titanic landed on such a landmark of our production. People will think we planned it that way all along, but it really just sort of lined up after Avengers that way. Pretty awesome coincidence. Okay, lets talk about this short:
Titanic is a touchy subject, so we wanted to keep the short about Jack and Rose as much as possible rather than the story about the ship. Jack and Rose are the problem, well Rose more than Jack, but what can you do :) If you think about it, Rose is the reason Jack dies. In the movie, Rose jumps back on the ship which puts her in the water with Jack, which causes Jack to have to go the extra mile to keep her alive, which puts Jack on the side of the floating debris instead of on top of it, which makes him freeze but she gets to go on living. But not just go on living, she goes on while hiding this priceless jewel the rest of her life even though it is said she would be ruined financially if she didn't marry Cal. So not only does Rose cause the man she loves to die, she also hoards the most likely source of income (which she has zero attachment to because it was from a man she hated) just to toss back into the ocean decades later. Why not sell that thing to someone?! You probably need the money since you are pretending to be dead and abandoning your family. Or why not give it to the ship crew who's currently doing research on the Titanic? They flew you out here to get answers, maybe give it to someone of proper authority! Nope, she's gonna wait till she's super old then chunk in in the ocean... Show'd you Cal! That'll teach you to buy a girl something super expensive, oh wait, you've been dead for like 80 years.... WHAT? So when Jack says "You're so Stupid Rose!" We think that has more meaning than intended.
But regardless of Rose being super unrealistic, Titanic is an amazing film, and I am so thrilled to see our own short finally come to completion as our 100th Video. The credits are:
Tina Alexander: Wrote the short with me and put up with a lot of production stress.
Otis Frampton: Superb Artist! His drawings were far more than what I would have been able to produce and he also gets credit for the Avatar scene at the end.
Stephanie Fisher: Killer voice on Rose. She always brings her best to the table and I'm always surprised how she can sound like so many leading ladies.
Brock Baker: Excellent performance of angry Jack. You'd think he and Stephanie recorded their lines in the same take, but they didn't.
Daniel Baxter: I think I did some descent snazzy animation (pats self on back) :-)~
and Bryan English: for nailing the soundtrack in ways I can't describe. Bryan has been unavailable for a while, so having him on Titanic was a sweet treat.
So like I said, this short brings nothing but satisfaction to me. Looking back on all the things we've gotten to spoof over the years and seeing all the old and new hands that have joined us to make them better and better... It's very satisfying, and humbling. So I hope you enjoyed it.
