This might've been asked before but...
What's the worst movie you've ever seen in a theater?
And did you watch it all or leave early?
The worst movie I paid to see was City Limits. Oh It was so bad... but I watched the whole entire movie. Twice. Once in theater and then again when it actually came on Mystery Science Theater 3000... which was, by the way, the least funny episode of that show I've ever seen. I kept taking it as a personal insult every time they made a joke.

it's definately a toss up between "Barbd Wire" and "Johnny Neumonic" I can't decide which one of those is the most aweful, but i actaully fell asleep in "Barb Wire"
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
Aragon!!!!!
I sat through the whole thing clinging to the arm-rests trying not to burst into a fit of rage.
oh and the Musketeer. *blech*
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
I think mine would have to be The Constant Gardener. Man, I have never seen a more boring movie. And confusing. But I had to stay for the whole thing, because my friend wanted to see how it ended. :?
Also, X-Men 3 was, IMNSHO, one of the worst movies I've ever seen, period. I would have left that one too, except a bunch of us had car pooled. I really hate that movie.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
As I said, VanillaSky, Teh Villiage, Jimmy Neutron. Most the flicks on the sci fi channel made me laugh, didn't like Wrong turn too much (it upset me waaaay too much), annnnddddd I think that's it.
SMEASLE!!! YOU HATED X3???!?!?!?!!!!! WHY?!?!?!?!?!!!!?!????!!!??!?!
(I thought that movie kicked!)
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
I am one of those people that has a really hard time stopping a movie that I've started watching...no matter how terrible it is. The only movie that I really wanted to walk out of (and wish I had) was Very Bad Things. I will never look at Christian Slater the same way again. so sad. Anyway, that movie made me feel sick.
It is funny though what can be someone's "worst movie ever" can be someone else's favorite. I'm not saying its good, but I actually found Vanilla Sky to be fascinating and I love The Village. Wrong Turn is disturbing though, so I totally understand that.
Did anyone see Family Guy last night when Peter confessed to not liking The Godfather? It kind of reminds me of this thread. It was pretty hilarious.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
I like to pretend that Tom Cruise tried watching the original Vanilla Sky and said to himself "reading subtitles is too hard. I think i'll just stop watching this right now and instead just hire the same people that made this movie and have them make an american version starring me. that way i'll know how this movie ends."
:)

That would not at all surprise me Cap
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
The worst movie I ever paid to see was Cool World. OH YEAH. I went to see that...I think it came out in like 1873 or something. It was BAD BAD BAD.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
Doesn't that have an animated brad pitt and an animated Kim Basinger in it? I don't remember much about it, but Kim Basinger played the second hottest cartoon chic of all time, behind jessica rabitt. But that movie pretty much was terrible.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
OMG COOL WORLD!!!! Ya know I saw that, and you would think it would be a worst movie to see for me but I don't think it counts if ya wanna watch it again.
It was pretty.... well when I first saw it I wanted to burn out my retinas. Why I wanna see it again is beyond me.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
ERAGON!!! I want that hour and a half of my life back. Can you sue a company and receive time as a payment? :x :x :x
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
Surprisingly, I've never seen a movie in a movie thearter that I didn't like.
I'm glad I haven't. 8)

Wow, I thought I was among only 2 people who thought that. Now, I know there's at least 3! Maybe if it had better plot, acting, and an actual ending it would have impressed me more... :P Everyone else said, "But the effects were awesome!" Hmm, they were awesome in Gremlins 2, but that didn't make it a good movie!
I think the worst one for me was called Lord of Illusions. (NOT The Illusionist, which I still haven't seen despite many great referrals by friends.) It was the one with Scott Bacula. Amazing how a movie can start off a little shaky but intriguing, and then turn into basically a B-movie gore-ror film by the end. I never got that at all. I'm very surprised Scott Bacula has gotten any roles of any importance at all since that movie.
Hmm, but how important was Enterprise anyway?
:P

The worst movie you've ever paid to see
I'm sad to say I've paid to see a lot of bad movies...Meet Joe Black, Nutty Professor 2, Problem Child...but the worst of all time has to be The Flintstones: Viva Rock Vegas. There, I said it!
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
There some movies that just shouldn't be made. Like John Goodman as Fred Flintstone. What's up with that? and that guy who played Barnie, he's nothing without Polly Shore.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
I Viva rock vegas it was a baldwin... daniel I think....
In the original is was rick moranis
:-D
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
Hands down, the worst movie I have ever paid to see was Ultraviolet. That's an hour and twenty-eight minutes of my life I'll never get back....
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
I saw "the Haunting" in the theaters. Pity me.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
I am stunned at how many of these I've seen.
Ultraviolet was so bad. It really is like a commercial for gillette fusion that goes on and on for an hour and a half. But at the same time, it's one of those movies I want absolutely everyone to see just so they can appreciate it.
And yeah, I saw the Haunting... in a theater... on opening weekend...
I forgot about that until just now.
Cool World, Viva Rock Vegas (is that the one with the BC-52s)... I didn't see these in a theater, but I have seen them. Dreadful.
By the way, welcome Grizz.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
Employee of the Month was horrible as well. I couldn't even watch the whole thing.
Thanks for the welcome. I've been trolling the boards for months and decided to jump in since everyone here seems like decent people. I love this website!
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
Too many to mention, but based on what it had going for it (budget, stars, director, etc) the recent remake of "War of the Worlds" is by far the worst movie I have ever seen.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
Can I ask why you thought War of the Worlds was awful? Because actually enjoyed that movie and bought it. I don't know if it has anything to do with every one's hate for Tom Cruise or what but I didn't think it was that bad.

It's not so much a movie about aliens destroying the world as we know it, but a little girl who has to scream at the top of her lungs every other scene.

Right off the bat you have his tacked on attempt to connect this movie with September 11th. You have the dust remains of people, the falling plane from the sky hours after a world wide attack, the photos with missing names, the location of the film. All these things I guess could have worked, but were so forced into the film that it felt like cheap manipulations that made no sense.
His van is the only working car throughout the whole movie, despite the huge population and techinal ability of NYC and Boston. Then you have in the beginning of the movie people being vaporized, even though we find in the end that the aliens ar basicly after our blood. Why bother vaporizing people that are running away, especially since the aliens barrier cannot be breached?
Later the son runs away from his fleeing father and sister and into the middle of a battle. He has clearly lost his mind, and even if he wants to fight I doubt there is a recruitment center in the middle of the battlefield.
Of course there is no coming back for the son, or so logic would say.
Then Tom goes and blindfolds his daughter is some symbolic message of warped proportions as he tells the guy that helped him that he is basicly going to end him, and then goes ahead and murders the guy. Why not just go along with the guy then hit him on the back of the head to knock him out? Do we really need such a sick artsy scene? Not to mention that the little girl sees far worse and didn't flinch.
Then at the end after everyone is clueless about how to save their lives and it is only Tom that comes up with the most obivious plan, by throwing grenades down the open port to the ship. At the very least you would think the military guy who came with those things would have tried that.
In the end, the sky literally clears and the family is reuinted happily (the son somehow beats them there  ) and unbelievably in an untouched scenic neighborhood. A happy ending even Disney would never write.
The movie had some great special effects thrilling shots like the one at the ferry, that it is hard to believe that Spielberg choose to revert to such cheap splatter film shots.
As for Tom Cruise, as alien as he is, he is not the reason this movie was bad or why I didn't like it. In fact having him and an all star cast really makes this movie even a bigger failure.
It seems unthinkable that such a classic book and movie could be warped into such a horrible obivious attempt to put September 11th on the screen butr there it is.
Here's one...
Oh I got another one... none of you can top it either.
I saw the new Shaggy Dog in a theater.
Tim Allen smelling people's rear ends... for an hour and a half. It was the worst movie going experience of entire my life. I hope that never happens to any of you.
I sat through that junk because I thought my son was having a good time, but it turns out that he actually hated it more than I did.
The worst movie you've ever paid to see
you guys are cracking me up with these movies!
Also, That is quite an analysis on War of the Worlds, CTALONS. I'm kind of half and half on that movie. The first time i saw it I was amazed. Then i bought it on DVD, and haven't enjoyed since. I always lose interest with it as soon as they meet up with Tim Robbins :)
but back to topic...

CTALONS, were you involved in the V for Vendetta discussion when we were talking about political tie ins with movies? I have the inability to catch political tie ins. But that's just me. And if you were Dakota Fanning, a maybe 8 year old girl, if aliens were attacking you and people are being reduced to heaps of dust and clothes I think you scream and nearly piss yourself too.
About Spielberg, I've noticed that in almost everyone of his movies there is some kind of mystery goo that oozes out of something. For example, Poltergeist-when the mom returns form the other world she is covered in what looks like grape jelly. The Fly 2-when the cocoon hatches something resembling tapioca pudding oozes out and in War of the Worlds-the alien tripod opens up and orange stuff falls out. Just making an observation.
