MSN has released a list of the 10 worst movie endings ever.
You can read the reasons why for yourself, but the movies are...
The Magnificent Ambersons
Return of the Jedi
LotR: Return of the King
(Tie) The Fury / Blow Out
Popeye (personally I feel the ending of one of many problems here)
Titanic (I guess history just ain't hollywood enough sometimes)
Bowling for Columbine
Million Dollar Baby
Broadcast News[/list:u]
A special award went to Speilberg for the endings of War of the Worlds, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report and AI.

Why is Vanilla Sky not on the worst list?
--EDIT--
Okay I went to read the thing after I posted but after reading a few of them I think the write is being a bit overly critical... there are tons worse movies that had crappier endings -cough The Village cough-
But Star Wars' Jedi was the coolest... my favorite out of 4, ,5 and 6. And was this guy serious about Titanic's ending... HE'S A GUY! IT'S A CHICK FLICK!! OF COURSE HE DIDN'T LIKE IT! What a ron-mor.
This writer is a hack! Haaaack...
10 worst movie endings ever...
That list is terrible. While I do agree with some of them, there are plenty of other films that are more guilty of the bad movie ending. (babz is soooo right about the Village)
/sorry Babz, I don't agree with you about Star Wars though. First half of Jedi was awesome, but the ewoks made it easily the worst of the first 3. Empire was the best of all Star Wars films.

Empire is my favorite too... but I didn't have a problem with Return of the Jedi (until they added Hayden to the final moments). Ewoks were clearly an aggressive marketing effort, but they weren't really a huge surprise. Lucas was punctuating a point about the unrealized / underestimated power of the little man in an oppressive society. It was the same with Yoda. Probably Willow too.
Lucas seemed particularly impressed with his "Size matters not" comment, didn't he?
But yeah, these movies are very odd choices for the worst endings ever. I kinda get the feeling he was being a bit tongue in cheek with em. Like Lord of the Rings... yeah that ending was drawn out way too long, but at least there was a literary basis for that.
Jaws 4 on the other hand was astonishingly bad.
And the Village? Oh dear. Too right.
10 worst movie endings ever...
That guy is WAY too critical.
I would have included Pretty Woman, Vacancy and Pretty in Pink.
Pretty in Pink takes the cake, in my opinion.
10 worst movie endings ever...
Remind me... How did Pretty in Pink end?
10 worst movie endings ever...
Oh man I forget.... The girl gets the guy, and Duckie's okay with it... Oh yea... tsk... poor Duckie...
Hehe cute little teddy bears... I love them little ewoks... So I guess I'm biased in that section...
Maybe no one should make a list... cause everyone will always have a different opinion... but this guy was really really wrong.
Crap... now I have that stupid Vanilla Sky ending in my head replaying over and over... "Look at us: You're dead and I'm cryogenically frozen." GOD! -Slaps self- stupid movie...
Yucky Villiage.... ya never even know if Joaquin Phoenix lives!!!
I hear a lot of folks didn't like League of Extrodinary Gentlemen, the ending... ((Again I'm biased cause I just plain liked that flick))
When it comes to crappy ending and bad movies... I've had my share... but I still think that guy needs to get an internet slap to the face... He was a dummy.

Joaquin Phoenix is breathing in the last shot of the village, and the sound effect of his breath is there. I think that's suposed to tell you that she made it in time and he's gonna be ok. Most people don't like the village because the "End" removes every bit of "fantasy" to the story which kills the whole vibe of what you've been following . I don't think it was a bad movie, just not M Night's best.
Jedi was the first movie i ever saw in a theater so the ewoks don't bother me at all. for me it's like Citzenbuck said. When i saw the DVD and they put young Ani in place of the original I felt so sad. why might as well "RESHOOT" the whole movie with new actors and digitally place them over the old ones just because we can.

I LOVED the fuzzy, happy ending to 'Jedi', sorry man...it was great...;)
Oh, and I officially want to add the craptacular 'new additional' ending to 'The Mist', it sucked out loud...the book ending was WAAAY better...

I THANK GOD I invested in obtaining the ORIGINAL trilogy of SW films on DVD, the versions PRIOR to Lucas's 'CGI is the answer to everything' thinking...

I liked the end of minority report...
BUT A.I WAS &%#!!
Sides why didn't they put holywoodland it was terible ending!!

I nominate Alien 4 and 30 Days of Night for the worst ending ever. Any "scary" movie that has a "happy" ending with the heroes watching the picturesque sunrise should be ashamed of itself.

I actually thought about this over the weekend.
I've decided that Julianne Moore is the Queen of bad Endings because she's in at least two of my personal 10 list:
The Lost World: Jurassic Park - A wild T-Rex in Cali ... that can only be contained by Mathmetician Jeff Goldbloom and his girl Julianne More.
The Forgotten a random bunch of aliens are stopped dead in their tracks because JM suddenly remembers that she was pregnant at some point in her life. How random was that whole alien thing?
But you know... I think Premenition's my all time least favorite ending ever. Anyone seen it?

Seriously, the end of this movie pissed me off. It was basically Godzilla.. only smaller, less threatening Godzilla.
10 worst movie endings ever...
I agree Buck. There were parts of Forgotten that I really liked though... I just wish the overall movie had been better.
I saw Premonition...I think I actually watched it twice in a row because I had issues with the timeline (still do). I think we have a thread about it on here somewhere... NEVERMIND, I just looked over there and you already knew that. :)
10 worst movie endings ever...
My wife just reminded me of a movie we saw a few years ago... an Autralian film... very melodramatic... about this family... and in the end a guy they all like turns into fish (for no reason whatsoever) and swims away. Anyone know that one? It's so messed up... as are most australian films actually.
10 worst movie endings ever...
I have to defend "The Forgotten" and it's ending.
I think that we need to look at it as an experiment in which one of the lab rats rebelled. I don't think that we are to assume that the aliens are not still at play, but that as far as this experiment goes it was a failure and the plug has to be pulled.
Usually in any alien movie it comes down to us somehow being able to out think or gun the advance alien race which honestly is kinda laughable, just watch HISHE Aliens Attack. The idea that a woman, especially a mother could be so relentless and that the tie with her child on a pure bodily/existential level felt very fresh and honest. The strength of humanity has never been in weapons or in intelligence, but in our ability to care and create communities.

I love big fish

No I know Big Fish. This was an Australian film.
Big Fish at least made a sort of poetic sense, but the film I saw ... it was completely out of nowhere.
EDIT... I think it's Love Serenade.
10 worst movie endings ever...
I love Big Fish too.
I promise to never see Love Serenade. :)
Ctalons, I like what you said about "The Forgotten". Even though there are things I didn't like, I have to admit I find that movie intriguing. There are actually several endings to the movie on the dvd.
10 worst movie endings ever...
That is a great defense you've thrown out for the Forgotten Ctalons. Nice one.
I'll have to give it another shot.

JPIII's ending sucked worst then two, at least it had action. All JPIII had was the equallent of Dr. Dolittle (the original one) singing 'talking with animals' except with raptors and a random government agent with a bunch of marines charging a beach.

Oh yeah... didn't Laura Dern show up on that beach at the end of JP3?

i cant believe no one has mentioned the matrix revolutions, the sunrise clip, OMG WHATS THE POINT WACHOWSKIS, U RUINED A GREAT FILM (matrix 1) AN OKAY FILM (matrix 2) AND A NOT SO OKAY FILM (revolutions). The wachowskis are on my list. If you have seen the ending on matrix path of neo, i think that was better, but they should have ended it with the snrise clip, with a little neo flying out. that would have ruled.
also, there is another film im going to mention, there are so many flaws i can only say the title or i will pass out. TERMINATOR 3
I only have that film to complete my collection
10 worst movie endings ever...
I feel the ending of a trilogy is always felt as the worse ending. Because you build up some much hype over 3 movies that even a good ending is llok down apon. Most modern day trilogies; make one movie, its excellent so the studio buys 2 more. Most likely you love the first one but it didn't leave you with any questions really. The second one usually comes along and doesn't have an ending, all it is is to set up the final movie. So I can see how some people get annoyed at some movies like LOTR:ROTK or SW:ROTJ.
I think the writer did this all to cause a reaction or he is just a big hack.
