While federal agents are rounding up the HISHE family for their CD-exchange party.
I thought that that we could share with each other a couple of our favorite things.
Perhaps there is something that you came across that most people don't know about. Try to think of something outside the obivious.
So what movie, music, food, game, philosophy, website, TV show, art, people, subject material, tech, poem, book, plant, vacation, comic, group, breakfast cereal, sport, etc etc etc would you like to recommend to others?
*Give as much info as you can!

I can tell you a ton of awesome websites that are not very well known. My favorite two web animations (other than HISHE, of course) are homestarrunner.com, because of it's clever, absurd humor and obscure references, and itsjerrytime.com because of it's subtle humor. totallyabsurd.com is great, it has an archive of the most bizarre inventions ever patented, and is updated weekly. straightdope.com is a site with great reading material; every few days Cecil Adams answers a new question that you always seem to be wondering, like where are all the baby pigeons, and why do bulls have rings in their noses. If you are bored with all those sites, bored.com has dozens and dozens of funny, intresting, and just plain wierd sites.

I was going to recommend the year 2003 for anyone who can go back and visit. Then I was going to recommend, Dogging as a fun and social outdoor activity....
Instead, I shall recommend B Raymond and the Voicettes, a Scottish band who play in a 1960's (ish) style. Unfortunately, their old site that allowed you to download their cracking songs has shut, but you can still hear their tunes on Myspace, Bebo or itunes.
Their song "Old Man Marley" was used in an excellent brylcream advert recently and in my opinion, the people who make adverts seem to know more about music than the people in the music industry. They certainly seem to have better taste.
I'd also like to recommend Peace, Love, Understanding and Tolerance (except when it comes to the Dutch - Ask N Powers).
And finally, the two most important pieces of advice a man can be given*, the Desiderata and If.
http://mwkworks.com/desiderata.html
http://www.kipling.org.uk/poems_if.htm
* My Dad comes in third with his more concise advice, uttered as I was struggling to deal with 3 separate calamities, while he had his own to deal with. It was "Cope."

If you ever wanted to know how to harness superpowers or be ahead of pretty much everyone in college then rent this documentry/movie...
What the Bleep do we know?
It is a combination of a drama and documentry trying to show you simply how science has unlocked things you can't imagine and how they effect your eveyday life. Plus, how you can take advantage of these theories to radical change your life. It's real science on the cutting edge.

I'm gonna go ahead and recommend the site I have a bit more noteriety at. http://www.oddlotsirregulars.com/?v2_1/index/ The forum is a bit slower than here, but the crowd that is usually around are some good people.
The main administrator for the site has a number of stories you can read, to be found here > http://homepage.mac.com/ravenpen/ravens_tales/index.html . There are two things that drew most of the crowd there... however, I think I'm only allowed to show one of them. They were takin' out diet cola before it was cool. http://www.youtube.com/user/ravenpen .
Well, now that I've officially advertised for what I might call my "posse" I think I'm done with recommendations.

I was looking for a sushi recipe and I found this site called Videojug. It has lots of little videos to show you how to do stuff and I would happily recommend it for the recipes alone.
However, recipes are not the only subjects as it covers all aspects of life. Having watched how to make rice, roll sushi and even how to make a sandwich I decided to check out the love and sex section and their guide to passionate kissing.
Link:http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-kiss-someone-passionately
This is slightly tongue in cheek (not saying whose) guide that despite it's mildly humourous nature, was actually fairly good. The slightly more risqu??Ǭ© subject of "How to undo a bra one handed" was tackled with equal aplomb. It kept me giggling throughout (I liked the reference to 1930s British tv) and I hope that one day it will prove useful. It wasn't tacky or explicit. You do get to see a pair of melons, but not any knockers.
So basically, it appears to be a site with visual guides for things you think you should already know and are too embarrassed to ask.

Thanks Bloke...great website!
As someone who was never a big fan of veggies and grew up in a big meat and potatoes family the idea of a veggie burger seemed way out there. Yet, each day we find out more and more that these soy burgers are good for you while meat is not. So, I recommend you pick up a package of these two particular veggie burger:
Morningstar:
Chick Patty: Taste like a real chick patty and is good for you!
Grillers Prime: Taste like a fast food burger, you will be shocked!

I felt genuinely moved to recommend something yesterday, but was a little too busy to post. Given the recent amount of spam, I thought I'd word this one in a similar style - hope I get it about right*.
Great expectation and exultation today on triumphant return of mine portable computer. Hewlett-Packard's rapid 3 day return fixes are free and fuss free despite border crossing and expiration of service promise - Unlike others I care not to mention.
Much improved is PS3 when just for games and not use of pisspoor inbuilt interconnected network reader. Joyous keyboard makes posting good. And what? HP Engineer screen cleaned! Super service.

Donut: It's not pink! It's just a light color of red.
Grif: You know they have a color for light colored red, it's called pink.
Donut: I hate you guys.

Babbz .. LOVED "Mirror" .. Have you seen "Pan's Labyrinth"? I think of that as the "Labyrinth" movie for adults!
Things to recommend .. well .. it's sort of retro but ..
Books --
The Count of Monte Cristo -- Alexandre Dumas (If you've only seen the movie, you're not even getting a THIRD of how good this story is!! Same for Three Musketeers AND Man in the Iron Mask)
The Fountainhead -- Ayn Rand (How do I put this .. This book is not easy to read, it's not pleasant to read, and the characters aren't even likeable -- YOU HAVE TO READ THIS BOOK .. it's that damn good)
Sarum -- Rutherford (It's the story of Stonehenge and Salsbury told from the Stone Age up to the present day .. and don't let the size of the book scare you, it's pretty damn good too!)
Movies --
Paint Your Wagon -- It's a western. It's a musical. It's a three-way love affair. Oh and did I mention that it stars Clint Eastwood .. and he sings??
Quest for Fire -- If you liked Clan of the Cave Bear, but hated Daryl Hannah, try this one for size .. oh and there is absolutely NO DIALOGUE ..
Krull -- No, not the Kevin Sorbo movie .. this is from the '80's and .. and well you just have to see it for yourself. This movie deserves to be MSTied .. often and well.
Websites --
http://notalwaysright.com/
For the retail slaves on the frontlines of the consumer empire ..
http://www.dragontavern.com/
A pretty good text-game RPG (ie, time-waster) that's FREE .. watch for the really cool treasures you can get like "Sorely Missed Whedon Firefly" and the "Lobbed Scimitar of the Moistened Bint"
http://www.lileks.com/institute/index.html
An event took place in our country some time in the past .. an event that had ramifications that rang down through the successive generations .. no not the Rosswell incident, I'm talking about the '70's! Bad food, bad clothes, bad advertisments .. this website harvests some of the very best (worst) and brings it to you! Free! The Gallery of Regretable Foods is one of my favs .. and if it doesn't make you laugh (or cringe) then you have no soul -- but remember this, never forget this, what you laugh at NOW was real and serious business then!! *Shudder*

There are two shows on NPR that I can't recommend enough: This American Life and Radio Lab. I have a hard time catching them on the radio, so I download the podcasts for free through iTunes.
This American Life will have a theme each week, and usually have 3ish stories associated with the theme. Sometimes they're really funny and sometimes they're serious, but they are almost always GREAT.
Radio Lab is an amazing show that approaches all kinds of things with a scientific eye. For instance, they have a whole show about laughter: what physically causes the laughter sound, is laughter unique to humans, the triggers of laughter, etc.
Anyway, I love both shows. Check them out!
