Show off your geek cred...Who is the biggest celebrity you have ever met?

Comments:

citizenbuck's picture

I'm not sure why, but I've met a lot of famous people. Margaret Thatcher is probably the most famous. Clive Barker & Dolly Parton were the nicest. Wally Pleasant was the coolest.

my uncle was a flight instructor of Harrison Ford for a short time to which they actually became "buddies" for a while. Long story short. My uncle has him over for dinner one night and invites my Mom, and my Brother to join them! Leaving the one movie freak in the family uninformed and uninvited. Granted, I lived in a different city at the time, but i would have called in sick and booked back home for a dinner like that. OH! and then, to make it worse, the same uncle gets Harrison Ford to CALL my sister on her cell phone to wish her happy birthday a month or two later! What do I get? NOTHING!!!

So Harrison Ford is the biggest celeb that almost everyone in my family has met EXCEPT ME!

but the biggest celeb I've met... does standing close to one count as "meeting"? :)

I served Alice Cooper buttered popcorn. And, while trying to be cool and inconspicuous said "Hey" to Jeff Probst....

Alice Cooper was the cooler one... he was nice. Jeff was too but I just got beef behind the name... not with him just his last name... ((My english teacher, who hated me, was related to him by marrage.))

ALICE COOPER KICKS ASS!!!

I met Carrot Top.

Jamesbloke's picture

I met one of Celine Dion's backing dancers. It's not a very good story, but he still tells it!

I've poured a drink for Vinnie Jones, but didn't get to serve him, as Lee Dixon was getting the round in. (Lee Dixon played right back for England and the Arsenal football teams in the 90s.)

I've talked to Bill Paxton. Yipiee!

And I've met Wally Pleasant too! And he rules. And I have his cell number. :)

OH, but the best probably is when I hung out for an afternoon with The Deathray Davies and Kumar from the Wes Anderson movies (Mr. Littlejeans). They were supposed to shoot a music video, and me and Fancypants were there to help, but it rained. So we sat in the drummer's house all afternoon and partied and Kumar juggled stuff. It was awesome.

But I really haven't met that many famous people...It's probably good because I'd get too star struck!

I saw 8-ball and MJG at the Russ Parr in the Morining Concert when they were in Dayton...

Even shook hands!!!

Well, i met Troy Aikman once, i know he's not in movies, but it was totally awesome.

CTALONS's picture

Actually Gil, Troy Aikman had a speaking part in Jerry Maguire...so you got a movie star there.

I met Scotty from Star Trek, James Doohan when I was a kid. It was very cool and it turns out that he lost a finger, which as a kid blew me away. Really great guy! RIP

Not too long ago, I also met Starbuck (orginal BSG)/ Face (A-Team) Dirk Benedict, who I always thought was the coolest guy as a kid. Yet, he came off kinda short and really odd. Go fig.

LetsGoBuffs's picture

Oh! I forgot - - I shot a commercial with Kathy Ireland. Jealous? :)

I also shot a commercial with Zack Snyder as director (director of 300 and Dawn of the Dead).

Spy_Guy's picture

I've said hi to Johnny Depp and seen Brad Pitt

Privileges of being Australian xD

LetsGoBuffs's picture

YOU WIN, SPY GUY!

CTALONS's picture

I almost forgot, I met Patch Adams, the man whose life was depicted by Robbin Williams.*

*I am the one without the long curly white mustache.

We weren't formally introduced, but I've spoken with Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh (the Queen's husband). He was soft spoken and seemed very kind.

Dr.Oblivious's picture

I met George Lucas once through a friend of mine named Lazarus for a potential business deal that I can't speak of because I've been sworn to secrecy.

Coleslaw's picture

The only "famous" people I've met is most of the local news casters.A family friend however met Robin Williams and had lunch with him in NY.She also used to work for Arnold Palmer.

When I was about nine I went selling girl scout cookies with my cousin. Goldie Hawn was her neighbor. Goldie came to the door herself, didn't buy any, but seemed nice. I wouldn't go down the driveway; I was too shy and intimidated by her fame - and, being a nine-year-old boy, probably embarrassed to be seen selling girl scout cookies!

I met the REAL Chuck Norris' son today. I wanted to punch him in the face just to see if he was as indestructible as his father, but then i thought about that whole chin being another fist thing and thought i should leave that mystery alone.

HOLY CRAP! I want know about that one.

LetsGoBuffs's picture

Not as glamorous as it seems. :) But he's a nice dude...a bit high strung, but nice.

citizenbuck's picture

Zack Snyder... now director of watchmen. That's cool.

Since moving to Arkansas, I've met Harrison Ford, Paula Dean, Martha Stewart, Ben Stiller and the t-rex from Night at the museum. I also got to see Michael Jordan give a speech... that was insanely awesome.

not celebrity status but I've got a aunt who has worked on the matrix trilogy, kangaoo jack, doctor who(she got david tenants autograph), superman returns and some other stuff.

I also got a uncle who worked on wolverine origins.

so I haven't met anyone famous :( and reading on all the famous people you met makes me jealous.

gilinator5000's picture

I've also met a lot of other sports stars (Juan Gonzales, Pudge Rodriguez, Nolan Ryan, Rafael Palmeiro) I shook Willie Nelson's hand once. But, the most famous stars I know I actually lived with. And that's THE Daniel Baxter and Tommy Watson. HOW MANY OF YOU CAN CLAIM THAT! They won an award, and were on TV.

My uncle played Elvis Presley in the early 90s TV series, the Series only lasted 1 Season, but it's still cool

Deathtime456's picture

I have chatted with Alexa Ray Jole (billy joles daughter) got her autograph, and slept at Mandy Patinknas vacation home.
