If Aragorn fought Luke Skywalker, who would win?

If they were both using swords, I think Aragorn would have the upper hand. I doubt Luke's lightsaber is heavy and he would not have the strength to swing a heavy sword around.

However, if Luke had his lightsaber, I think it would be an even field. He might even have the upper hand if he used the force.

Comments:

it's a non argument. Luke wins, sure he doesn't have the years and years of training, BUT

1. His sword cuts through ANYTHING with a single swipe, including Aragon's sword and Aragon himself.

2. He can bullseye womp rats which are no more than 3 meters back home in beggar's canyon in his speeder.

3. His dad is Darth Vader.

orangesrhyme's picture

Well, using circular logic, no, lightsaber versus narsil=narsil win. In long, if Aragorn's sword can cut the undead, and a lightsaber can't, then narsil can parry a lightsaber blow. Like, if sharp diamonds can cut glass, and metal can't, then diamonds can't be cut by metal. On another note, Aragorn has heightened senses comparable to the Force. That, and Luke is fairly whiny.

of course a lightsaber can cut undead, but it's a fight tween aragorn and luke so luke wouldn't have to. And unless his sword has cortosis in it, then the metal sword loses vs lightsaber every time. But being able to perform strafing runs from space means Luke wins every time, unless Aragorn suddenly develops the ability to breathe in vacuum and fly in space.

orangesrhyme's picture

Breathe in space? Since when could Luke do that? Is that the EU?

orangesrhyme wrote:

1. He has an x-wing

2. He survived a quick trip from spaceship to spacehip transfer by being in a force hibernation using some kind of survival suit, but didn't have the oxygen kit.

Nvm it's aragon ftw. I mean yeah luke is a Jedi knight, but aragon commands an army of the dead!! And I bet if aragon had a lightsaber, he could still beat like in a duel

nah aragorn still loses. Army of the dead is nothing compared to the numbers of the imperials/sith/dark jedi/ bounty hunters/ yuzzhan vong that Luke had gone through. And having the ability to bombard from orbit still wins. Oh did i mention being able to make people unable to see and or recognize you by using the force?

bob(reeda) if aragorn had a saber he wouldnt be able to control it because he doesnt have the force he needs the force cause its near weightless. have you ever seen anyone without the force use a saber so if aragorn had a saber hed suck with it as would hans solo and with swords aragorn

actually yes. Boba Fett. And he didn't suck with it. was he > Jedi? no, but hey he didn't die, of course that's EU Fett, but still. So in the end EU Fett > All

i dont remember that what movie was that in?

ummm i think Luke would win cuz he could just use the force to pants Aragon and then attack him when he's distracted.

As for the lightsabers in the original trilogy, IIRC they were metal rods of polished chrome, which WERE heavy (except for David Prowse, who really WAS strong enough to pick a guy up with one hand just like he did in "Clockwork Orange). These were later replaced with plastic ones that could be whipped around at high speed as seen in the prequels.

Yeah, I was watching the special features in the original trilogy the other day, and it was told to the actors to handle their sabers like "a fifty megaton hammer" or something like that.

I think that's because they were supposed to be so dangarous-- but if you watch "Return of the Sith," they're whipping their sabers around at about literally 40mph, but it could be CGI.

Meanwhile in the original movies, they move them pretty slow, like real swords-- because they're much heavier. The Prequel-swords are made of light plastic.

LOTR KING = JEDI KNIGHT

Aragorn = NUMENOREAN King-- who were so powerful that they defeated all the Valar themselvs, and only God (Eru) HIMSELF could stop them.
Also, the Witch-king was only so powerful, because he was a Numenorean NOBLEMAN; meanwhile Aragorn was a Numenorean KING.

Luke = Jedi Mind Trick, i.e. "I don't need to see your identification!" but doesn't work on Ewoks

Aragorn = "even the shades of men are subject to hsi will," leading an army of THE DEADagainst his enemies. The only dead person Luke even talked to was Obi-wan, and he was powerless to help.

Aragorn was also to stare down Sauron's #1 sorceror, who was a Numenorean traitor.
Finallly, Aragorn was able to wrench the palantir away from the mind of SAURON-- something that even Saruman and Gandalf weren't able to do!

Luke: some training, very little experience in combat, almost killed by Jabba's forces-- miraculously shot in the hand that he had ALREADY LOST in his first battle.
Aragorn: trained by Elrond, 60 years of experience in combat against Sauron, greatest human warrior alive.
Likwise: Aragorn is 87 years old but still young, while luke is about 25-- which would be like Luke vs. a super-strong Yoda, i.e. no contest.

Conclusion: Luke: can do some nifty things, but which are no substitute for an army-- as the Jedi themselves admitted in Episode II-- and Luke had no leadership EXPERIENCE.

Meanwhile, Aragorn = command Luke to do whatever he wanted-- as well as send an army against Luke. Luke couldn't command ANYONE that we saw, even though he was a GENERAL-- which shows they had pretty low standards of promotion.

mandosoldier wrote:

We're talking about Luke vs. Aragorn, not lightsaber vs. Anduril; however Anduril was a MAGIC sword of unknown power, like Excalibur.

Quote:

Or he could just use the Death Star and blow up the Earth--sgain, NO SUPER-WEAPONS.
Besides, I don't think Elbereth would take very kindly to Luke trashing Ilmen like that-- and she would beat Luke NO CONTEST.

The Jedi stated that they were not an army, but you yourself saw the damage one jedi could do against even an army of non force users. And by Luke I use present day Luke, who has MUCH more power and experience. And since it was put we're talking about Aragorn vs Luke not sword vs sword, then the fight is MUCH simpler. Luke chokes Aragorn with the force and wins. Hard to command anyone when you cannot talk. Luke uses the force to render himself unrecognizable or invisible, sneaks up on aragorn and kills him, win again. Luke makes one of Aragorn weak minded allies see Aragorn as Luke and he's killed by his own ma, Luke wins again. Any way you put it, Luke wins. I mean come on, he was such a bad ass, but he had to depend on a hobbit, the ewoks of LOTR, to actually destroy the ring and win the war? They were all almost killed but for Gandalf. And for most of the trilogy he simply moped and even then was finally begged into claiming his own birthright. Aragorn is and always was simply a tool to disctract the enemy while Frodo snuck the ring in. Even is you DO include swords, Aragorns sword would not be able to stand up against Luke's lightsaber. unknown power sure, but still weighs a good bit. And with Luke's saber being of adjustable length, tight spaces would be a nightmare for Aragorn. Like I said any situation you put them in, having the Force puts Luke at an advantage that Aragorn simply could not overcome. I didn't even mention that Luke would know when and where Aragorn would strike even before Aragorn did, making any blows instantly blocked, a feat Aragorn cannot duplicate. Oh also Luke could pull a Vader, and hurl anything not bolted to the ground at Aragorn during the battle, again causing death to the king.

mandosoldier wrote:

Ok, here's the facts: Aragorn is an Elven-wise man and rightful king of kings, who saves all humanity. Luke Skywalker is a boy who cut off his hand while playing with a lightsaber, and whose father wore a black, heavy-breahing S&M mask while his daughter ran around in a skimpy harem-girl outfit in an inbred galaxy far, far away.

I think Aragorn wins on class alone.

your kidding right? the same guy who moped around in a bar? You surely read my above post how the entire thing ran around what was essentially a shaved ewok and his fat friend. At least Luke got to be the hero of his story, Aragorn played what can be described as a Lando part. And don't bash the harem girl outfit, the only girl in LOTR had pointy ears and Steven Tyler for a father.

Only when he was off-duty as a ranger.

You're talking about MOVIE Aragorn? The one who got owned by a girl, a HOBBIT, and another girl-- at DIFFERENT TIMES?
iIf that's the case, Luke wins EASY!
NO CONTEST.
I was talking BOOK Aragorn, who's about 528905470.432432 X more powerful than that movie-dweeb.

sure just as you were talking about the movie Luke who yes, was rather emo-ish and apparently enjoyed having his hand maimed in various and inventive ways. while I was talking about book Luke who has taken on planet loads of Vong, Dark Jedi, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers, and other assorted baddies and performed such feats as made the entire millennium falcon disappear from sight while maintaining an illusion of it still being there, drawing such power as to make himself burning hot to the touch and glowy. Received training in the dark side from the emperor himself. Still in this case, Luke wins it, force beats non force almost every time unless the competition has knowledge of how to handle force users. The fight would be simple with Luke simply switching off Aragorn's mind or mind flashing him, making him forget he even saw Luke enter the room and stabbing him in the spleen.

Um, yeah-- that's NON-CANON, ace.

In LotR, the BOOKS are canon, while with Star Wars it's the MOVIES.

And BOOK ARAGORN > MOVIE-LUKE.

Anything else is pure fanboiswank.

isaac5 wrote:

If he can command dead traitors, he can DEFINITELY command living knights. He was even able to defeat Sauron's own lieutenant-- a Numenorean sorceror, mind you-- just by STARING at him.
Aragorn RARELY revealed his power, but when he did-- you DIDN'T ARGUE.

Quote:

Even better, he was HOME-SCHOOLED from birth by Elrond AND Gandalf; Elrond was the original born king of Numenor, but it went to his younger brother when Elrond chose immortality instead, 3000 years earlier.
Likewise, Gandalf was ...um, GANDALF, HELLO!
They were both wielders of the two mightiest rings other than the One.
Likewise THE Galadriel, eldest and wises Elf in Middle-Earth (and probably EVER), ANDwielder of the third and final Great Ring, was his grandmother-in-law to be, and even saw enough in him to set him up with THE Princess Arwen.

DO THE MATH: Luke's mother and father where two whiny brats with no self-control, who were tricked into a doomed relationship by a scheming old fart-- he was literally an EVIL-SPAWNED BASTARD with everything against him.

that mucking force,
is the famous A-R-AGORN!

Sorry the events in the books are approved By George Lucas, and in my book that makes it canon. And again, your boy was a sidekick in his own kingdom, doesn't speak well for him at all, even in the books, it was about Frodo destroying the Ring, not Aragorn. When you're a sidekick in your own kingdom that pretty much relegates your every positive to a "eh that's neat" especially when you're introduced by moping in a bar. Oh and even in the book he was wishy washy on whether he should have the sword or not. ANd commanding dead is different from a living person with the will power to fight back, and as pointed out, he has to see and/or recognize Luke before he can even begin to fight. So I'm sorry but having no powers outside of telling dead things what to do < Being able to affect every single object/mind on the planet with but a thought. Even IF your tutor WAS gandalf or even Orko, it doesn't mean you're that level, just means you had a neat teacher. which btw Gandalf < Yoda

No one said it was, but canon is canon, and canon Aragorn > canon Luke.

So no galaxy-destroying "Force-dumps" allowed, just because they were mentioned in some obscure fanboiswank comic-book, or the STUPID "Clone Wars" cartoons.

In canon, The Force and a galaxy of inbred degernates, has NOTHING on Eru Illuvatar and Arda.

And eagles and dragons are WAY cooler than TIE-fighters and X-wings-- and definitely more than those stupid MUPPETS!

Finally, EVERYONE knows that a hobbit could kick an Ewok's ass any day, and Ewoks are the canonically proven to be the most powerful force in the Inbred Galaxy.

How bout the entire wing dedicated specifically to fact checking and continuity issues, as well as GL himself shooting down and approving plots. Read interview in back of The Unifying Force.

no, dragons suck and are overdone, ie dragonheart 1 and 2, Eragon, Reign of Fire, Dungeons and Dragons and many more. And riding a giant eagle? come on how retarded is that? About as retarded as Jar Jar that's how retarded. I mean he has a whole world that he created and the best he can come up with is an eagle? If it wasn't for Tom Bombadil they would have all died within the first day of being on their "adventure" While ewoks took out the finest garrison of stormtroopers the empire had. (god never thought I'd use that as a good point or even defending ewoks but goes to show I guess) All Frodo would have done at the sight of an AT-ST is crap his little pants and hide behind the dwarf.

That's not evidence, it's ANECDOTE.

EVIDENCE, is an actual quotation by Steven Sansweet, exec. director of LucasFilmsLicensing:

"Just what is Star Wars canon, and what is not? The one sure answer: The Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition -- the three films themselves as executive-produced, and in the case of Star Wars written and directed, by George Lucas, are canon. Coming in a close second we have the authorised adaptations of the three films: the novels, radio dramas, and comics. After that, almost everything falls into a category of ?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?quasi-canon.?¢‚Ǩ?°?É‚Äû?ɬ?"

It's good enough to be the American mascot-- compared to a bear (Russia), a Panda (Japan), a bulldog (England) and a chicken (France).

Quote:

Gollum had special powers from the Ring. And if you wanna read a little more carefully, I said A hobbit could beat AN Ewok.
How you came up with the "village" is beyond stupid.

Quote:

Only reason he survived was Gollum cared so much about the ring that he didn't notice he fell off the cliff.

Actually, Frodo only succumbed to the power of the Ring, because he "used the dark side" and USED the Ring's power on Gollum before the end; and likewise, Gollum fell BECAUSE Frodo ORDERED him cast into the fire if he ever touched Frodo or the Ring again.

Quote:

NOT BY EWOKS.

No, Tolkien said that SAM was the true hero of the story.

They were caught by an EVIL ENT, or something like it, and Ents detroyed Isengard.
Frodo went through the Old Forest in order to avoid the Nazgul.-- but the Witch-king was the one who sent the Barrow Wights after them.

Ok let's not forget this is aragorn vs luke skywalker not star wars stuff vs lotr stuff (and not star wars fans vs lotr fans I am a fan of both )

I think the answer is never going to be agreed on because it is so evenly matched so the answer is one two three-he *crunch* the world may never know

I agree Isaac5. I wouldnt call it a draw between Luke and Aragorn exactly. More like a draw between two users (who's names I will not mention). Both have their respective "opinions" and are going to stick by them. I'm the same way (most of the time), I like who I like and no-one is going to change my mind (some people call that stubbornness). This is why I have stayed away from topics like this one..........And sometimes it's just hard to choose.

Yah have to remember that there is a thin line between debating and arguing.

If you ignore canon it's all fanboiswank. FACT.

Quote:

I know, that was just a joke.
However, Luke Skywalker had trouble with a biker-scout, AND was defeated by a few Ewoks.
That's doesn't exactly look good on his fight-record.

Debating is arguing at some point. I never said I didn't like LOTR, I do enjoy it. I have read and own the books as well as the movie, Just disagree on who could beat who. And by the way, you mess with one ewok you mess with them all, which is different than the hobbit philosophy of "let someone else handle it" that got Frodo as well as Bilbo looked down upon as adventuresome. And please facing a single grim reaper wannabe is no where near as ballsy as facing down an entire empire and instead of killing the leaders you attempt to save them from themselves. And yeah, I'd save my friends too, they're the only thing standing between myself and a whole army of things looking to kick my butt. Even the dwarf made more of an accounting for himself facing down thousands of orcs and he didn't even have a magic sword that glowed blue. Long live dwarves!
