I thought this movie was great until the "accusing" scene. After that I got so bored and angry with the direction the movie had turned that I didn't enjoy it. I kept waiting for it to come back to the story it had started, but it never did... I hadn't read the book, which is 99.99% of the case with me, so i base a lot of films I see by the way they tell a story from scratch.

Everything I looked up after the film had people's comments saying "it's such a great adaptation of the book!" or "That was so boring!" So it would seem that if you have read this story you would appreciate it far more than someone who didn't know jack about the movie before hand. I wish I had known that before i watched the film, but at the same time, I feel that also shows that there is a serious flaw in the film itself.

oh well. I still love Keira Knightley, even if she is crazy bone skinny and barely in the last half of the movie.

SPOILER ALERT

So one of my biggest problems with this movie was the whole letter situation at the beginning. It basically puts the nail in his coffin and I don't think there's ANY WAY that he would have mistakenly put that letter with that word in the envelope to give to her. He even typed the "bad" letter and hand wrote the one he wanted to give her. AND he meticulously tore up every previous draft. I just thought that was a bit of a stretch for me.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest...I couldn't find anywhere in my review to talk about it. ;)

I liked certain parts of this movie, and actually kind of loved the premise of it, but God did I hate the abundance of non-talking scenes. Not every movie has to have that Tarintino 1000 words a minute pacing, but I kind of get bored of watching people do stuff in silence.

It probably didn't help that I watched this movie right after I watched people quitely dig oil wells in there will be blood. I also saw No country for old men, the day before which also followed that same "this is an ok movie, but I be we can make the critics love it if we replace all of the banter and voice overs you see in most movies with great cinamatogrophy and plenty of mind numbingly slow plot progression" formula.

So in Summation, I love Kira Knightly.
