Is there an official BSG thread? I thought there was, but I might be thinking of the stuff "I just can't watch" thread.
So.... anyone actually seen the cast of Battlestar Galactica lately? Seen the trailer for the finale and the Caprica Spin off? Anything?
Do tell.
By the way, I finally picked up the season 3 DVD (I'm on the 13th ep). Brilliant. The Adama's return to New Caprica was... sublime. Baltar's death was beautifully Baltarish. The fight where Starbuck and Apollo made up was ... actually that was dreadful... in the good way.
Great season. can't wait for season 4.

So Buck, have you seen only as far a Season 3?
Ya, I mentioned this a while back...We really need a TV area seperate in the forum to keep tracking of it all. A lot of good threads get lost in the lobby.
Battlestar Galactica
As a matter of fact there is one...and as it turns out it was started by you!

Nevertheless, maybe if anyone'd... I dunno... been in the same room with the BSGers... this might be a good place for them to tell us all about every since detail of it. Cap? Death?

That's right. But I do have all the Season 4 eps on tape... or at least the 10 that have aired anyway. So i'll be able to get up to speed pretty soon.
Of course in taping them, I kinda had the 4 revealed cylons spoiled for me (why did they have to put that in the opening credits).
Anyone wanna say who they think the 5th Cylon is?
Personally I've thought it was Roslin since Season 1. Always dying. Never dead.
I don't think it's Adama (though that would be a good set up for Caprica), but personally I would hope that if it does turn out to be him... I think it would be really great to see Leoben shout "Dude, I so called it" (Season 1 Episode 8).
Battlestar Galactica
Ah Buck, its good to see someone else obsessed with this show. My major geek moments at Comic Con all had to do with BSG. Their panel was awesome and I'm a little embarrassed to admit...I almost teared up when everyone gave them a standing ovation and then they all stood up and clapped for us and then people started chanting "so say we all." yeah, it was cheesy, but it was so cool.
So if your interested, I'll tell you all about each actor on the panel. Possible Spoiler Alerts - although not really - I won't discuss past season 3 without a warning
First, Kevin Smith hosted and dropped a million F bombs. He asked all the actors to tell their most Bad A$$ moment of the show and most agreed it was when Galactica dropped out of the sky to rescue them from New Caprica and then jumped. I seriously got goosebumps on that part myself.
Apollo (Jamie Barber) - Very serious dude. Doesn't seem to have much of a sense of humor and it can come off that he's kind of aloof. But he did describe the final 10 episodes (that they are finished shooting - the show has wrapped) as absolutely beautiful and perfect. That made me happy. I think he's just a very serious actor.
Anders (Michael Trucco) - Very sweet humble guy. Said he won the actor lottery when he got asked back to the show. We also laughed when he said Aaron Douglas (Cheif) always knows what's going to happen on the show before they get the scripts. He said Douglas pulled him aside and whispered, "hey dude, have you heard? We're going to be Cylons." It was really funny.
Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) - Um, she's awesome. Can't say I'd be jealous if every guy in the world had a crush on her. Heck, I have a crush on her. Kevin Smith asked her what it felt like to be the ultimate Lesbian icon. She was really embarrassed and speechless. She also talked about when they rescued Anders from New Caprica and she got to shoot two guns and said that they ran out of ammo on that day because they were so over zealous. She also said the director told Helo to stop making a face like a girl when he shoots which everyone laughed at. She told us to all go back and watch that DVD again and we'd see it. She also said she was a proud card carrying member in real life (I assume she means NRA?).
Cylon 6 (Tricia Helfer) - Really professional and smart and of course, beautiful. She talked a lot about the challenges of playing many different roles and how she loved it. She talked about how it was hard being Model 6 in the first season because no one could see her. I really liked her a lot.
Baltar (James Callis) - Oh my gosh. I liked him before but I ADORE him now. You could tell he took his role really seriously and the writer/producers even joked that sometimes he would discuss the script with them ad nauseum...the whole thing about being a very spiritual person but also a nymphomaniac. He talked about how Baltar's main motivation is his guilt and shame over the billions he helped kill in the colonies. He said his character arc is all about how Baltar deals with that. It was really interesting. Anyway, he was terrific and facinating.
Ronald Moore and David Eick were there too, but really didn't give any spoilers away...other than to say the end was a real ending and that we would be really happy with it. All the actors seemed to agree. Moore talked about one of his favorite moments being when Baltar put his head down on the desk and then it said "one year later" and all of sudden a year had past instantly in the middle of a show. He said nothing on tv had ever done anything so bold and he was really proud of it.
Okay, well, that's probably WAY more than you wanted to know, but maybe not. ;) If I think of any other cool stuff...I'll tell you. Overall, it was just plain awesome.
Oh, and my opinion on the 5th Cylon. I thought the whole show that it was Baltar. That he would end up being the "god" or mastermind. I then thought it was Starbuck for reasons I can't mention until you finish Season 3. Now that I've watched the first 10 episodes of season 4, I think there's a chance it might be Roslin. So you might have been right all along Citizenbuck!! :)

Not quite, but it's a great start. Thank you so much. Though personally I won't be happy until I get an exact and illustrated transcript. Cap?

I like that Baltar might not be a cylon. I think it's a great comment on mankind's tendancy towards self destruction... because at the same time he's a survivor and as he points out (often) they'd all be dead several times over if it weren't for him. He's a hero in his own way too. If they took that away... it seems like a huge step backwards.
If I had it my way, I think he should be the last living human (which would serve him right) or the guy that has to sacrifice himself to save the human race and destroy the Cylons (which probably still wouldn't be the redemption he's looking for).
Starbuck would make a great Cylon, but if that happened I think Dirk Benedict would explode. He was so mad when they made Starbuck a girl... I think this'd drive him over the edge.

Battlestar Galactica
Nice find Ken.
I have to say that I watched BSG on and off till Season 4, which I have now watch ever second each week. The first 10 episodes of season 4, I feel are better then the first 3 seasons, and I mean that in a blow you away find away.
For the sake of Buck, I wont say who it can't be, but I am still thinking that it is someone we havent seen...Adama's Son? Or Dirk Benedict?
How about the Battlestar Galatica itself?
Battlestar Galactica
It would be neat if Dirk Benedict was the final Cylon. It would also be neat if the Final Cylon was Cally or Helo, because that would mean that the Cylons made a pure cylon baby. They might be happy with that and wander off back to the Cylon Homeworld. Everyone's happy ever after.
But I still say President Ros.
By the way, do the season 4 opening credits still say "And they (the cylons) have a plan"? because from what I can tell they should have dropped that somewhere around new caprica.
That's been my only complaint with season 3 so far.
Battlestar Galactica

I could not agree MORE on this, it really bugged me too. And yes, they do drop it for season 4...there's a different intro that reminds you of the four new cylons.
I also agree about season 4 to a certain extent. Season 3 had a lot of drama in it and not a lot of action. I still really enjoy the drama in this show though...one of my favorite episodes is the flashback of new caprica when you see what happened between Starbuck and Apollo. I cried. But Season 4 is INTENSE. Its a VERY stressful first 10 episodes for sure. Granted I watched them all in like 48 hours before we went to comic con. ;)
I did think of something funny. The panel before BSG was a Joss Whedon panel for his new show Dollhouse. Helo (Tahmoh Penikett) was on the panel with Eliza Dushku and someone in the audience asked him if her spine glows. It was hilarious and he had to whisper in her ear what that meant because she had no idea.
Battlestar Galactica
I finally get to read and reply to this thread because I just finished the last of Season 4! If only I'd known that there were no Season 4 spoilers in here, anyway... :o I can't wait for 4.5 to come out and the finish of the story - too bad it's delayed, but I agree with what Cap said in the 4.5 thread - if it will be better quality for it, I'm willing to wait. Minor spoiler at the end for Season 4 - everything else is "safe."

Thanks, Buck for starting one - yes, it did take over that other thread for a bit, so it's good to have a place for us...
The only cast sightings I had were before they wrapped in Vancouver - a number of times I saw Apollo at the beach, usually when we were running past each other. I never wanted to bother him - let the poor guy go for his run in peace. ;) A friend did some work on Caprica (also filmed at VFS), and I think they are waiting to see if the pilot will be picked up. The trailer looks very interesting... And Mr. Gaeta - I realized when I was at the local Shakespeare festival last night that I've been watching the actor who plays Gaeta in productions there for years... such a small world, especially in "Hollywood North." Which reminds me, I need to finish my movie tour of Vancouver.
Really interesting reading about the convention panel, Red. That con sounded like so much fun!
I could gush on and on about BSG. It's such a quality show. I love the story arcs, acting (mostly), the politics, spirituality and constant questioning of what it means to be human. And of course, set all that in space with some nice tech, and I'm hooked. For me, one of the most poetic devices in the show is the hybrid: this human/machine that spews out prophecies in between command lines... there's just something simply beautiful about that. Fine. Call me weird. :)
I've had a few ideas about the fifth Cylon, but at the moment, I think it's Adama - the Admiral, that is. My main reason is because...
**Season 4 Spoiler**
...it would be so appropriate that Laura Roslin, who seems to harbo(u)r such a visceral hate for the Cylons, would end up telling one she loves him before she finds out. ;)
Battlestar Galactica
Almost there!
One more week until 4.5 starts.
I'm dying.
Anyone been watching the webisodes? I wasn't particularly impressed until ep9 came out. Always nice to see Baltar, you know?
Jake... you saw Apollo, Gaeta and ppl from Caprica. How cool is that?
Here's hopng you'll see everyone else when they film the Plan.
Battlestar Galactica
webisodes? no! i'm so watching them before the premiere.
Battlestar Galactica
citizenbuck wrote:
Indeed! And thanks for the heads up on the webisodes. It's nice to see you around a bit more again, Buck!
Update: Grr. Argh. Webisodes not available in Canada - if someone north of the 49th has seen them posted elsewhere, let us know (or pm me). Thanks.
Battlestar Galactica
they had 7 webisodes on xbox live. they were all back story on Adama. i'm glad to hear there are more than just 7
Battlestar Galactica
My wife and I watched all the webisodes last night to get ourselves psyched up for the proper season premiere tonight. I thought that, overall, they were surprisingly good, and potentially relevant to our understanding of the show (the flashback to Gaeta and Baltar, in particular). Of course I could have done without those obnoxious Rise of the Lycans promos they threw up before each and every installment. :)
Battlestar Galactica
I saw them on Hulu last night. no lycan commercials there. :)
Webisodes
I wasn't really into the story so much until the very very end, but I liked it. The ones on Xbox live are a completely different story all together.
Battlestar Galactica
Just finished watching the new episode...classic BSG.
More questions coming out then in.
Can someone explain to me why they aren't able to test to see if someone is a cylon? I know Baltar had a machine...and know they show that they can test the bones and know, so I am guessing I missed an episode somewhere...can i get some help?
Battlestar Galactica
that is exactly what I thought when they found out the bones weren't human. So far I'm not digging the first episdode. I hope it's slow right now and is building up to something big like they always do.
Battlestar Galactica
I know this doesn't make any sense, althought it may with the way the series is getting written, but SPOILER? it seems more and more like everyone could be a cyclon.
Battlestar Galactica
They can test anyone, and were going to test everyone at one point. But I think they gave up testing anyone since the answers/results they were getting from Baltar were not in any way truthful.
Battlestar Galactica
Yeah, for a while now, I've been speculating that everyone may in fact be a Cylon (albeit different generations ). Over time, they come to believe they are actually human and create the new Cylons, who then nuke them, etc. -- lather, rinse, repeat.
The key to the show may turn out to be that, if we are all Cylons, then the distinction between human and Cylon becomes meaningless. I's really all about who you choose to be, not what you are.
"All this has happened before, and all of it will happen again."
Battlestar Galactica
I love season 4. I think it's the best ( except for seasons 1, 2 and 3 which are also the best).
My only complaint: where is Head 6?
She should've turned up after Baltar's disillusioned speech this week.
Also a guestion (guess + question = guestion) (actually that was just a typo that I'm trying to redeem)... where was I?
right.
the dying leader wasn't supposed to make it. Pres ros walked on Earth. is there another earth?
Battlestar Galactica
The dying leader was suppose to lead her people to the promise land...The President now belives that is all garbage, since Earth is a waste land.
Now either there is a 'promise' land to come and she will lead them there or it was all just untrue from the begining.
I am figuring that it will be true from a certain point of view, kinda Star Wars logic, or aka we didnt think that far in advance.
Battlestar Galactica

So true.
I've been a little disappointed with the first two episodes of this season. Almost confused by what their doing...it seemed like they dropped earth quickly. Since I pretty much 100% agree with Alexs theory, this question is a little redundant...but do we assume now that Starbuck has been revealed as a cylon? She can't really be a dead human and a live human right?
As far as the dying leader stuff goes...I wonder if they are going to work all that out when they work out the "one true god" vs. "many gods" thing???
Battlestar Galactica
IMO...this last episode was the best since they left new caprica.
Baltar: just keep the statue.
Battlestar Galactica
OH yeah! it's picking up now! and everything's going haywire! It's stressing me out and I love it completely
Battlestar Galactica
Horrible plot writing here:
1. You send the Admiral & Colonel to the brig with no handcuffs and only two guards
2. The long goodbye with only seconds to spare before the troops knock down the door
3. The Admiral & Colonel stay behind to protect a transport that already left
Seriously, who is writing this?
Battlestar Galactica
They gotta stay with Galactica :) if they abandon ship, that's just cowardly.
I gotta say when starbuck started taking initiative I was back on board. but i do agree it's kind of silly
Battlestar Galactica
I had no problem with the Adama and Tigh staying aboard, just the 'we are protecting the getaway' point...shouldn't they have left with Apollo and Starbuck if they wanted to take the ship back?
Battlestar Galactica
CTALONS wrote:
Actually I'm told that's pretty standard... the handcuff thing I mean. Traditionally they don't bind the leader out of respect... unless he's violently out of control (which Adama wasn't).
