I have a book filled with Richard Matheson short stories. He's pretty awesome. This movie (like so many made from his work) is a muddled mess. I gave it 2 out of 5.

When I saw the trailer I thought it had a some potentail. Then I found out that it was a short story, which was made into a Twilight Zone episode (which I saw). I was wondering how exactly they were going to stretch this simple concept out for at least 90 minutes (Twilight Zone barely stretched it out enough for one episode). I'm guessing from your review, that they failed miserably at it?

I really want to like Richard Kelly's stuff. Donnie Darko was ok (though it had the potential to be awesome) but it still suffered from the "cluttered mess" syndrome that all of his movie do. I'll probably catch "the box" on video, but after being tortured with Southland Tales, I won't be sitting through this in the theaters.
The Box
I actually like Donnie Darko, but totally agree about Southland Tales. The Box is somewhere in between. Probably worth a rent if you like weird stuff - it's certainly not a total loss, just Kelly's usual confusing mess... and I imagine it will be on DVD soon! :)

this movie is stupid, i would never kill anyone for any amount of money, >_<

That's the point of the movie. There are people that will kill for enough money and others that won't do it at all. But what you have to realize is the situation. When people are put in very stressful situations, they may do irrational things in order to relieve it. In Psychology, they have a whole chapter on Stress and it really goes into what stress can do to you.
But enough schooling for one day. The principle behind the movie is good, I just don't think it's good enough to stretch into a feature-length film.
James Marsden
every time I see James Marsden I can't help but think of X-men 3 and how nobody gave a crap when his character (Cyclops) was killed off. Don't know why that is.
