This is a quiet, sad, and beautiful movie. It contains a scene at the end that is easily one of the most moving scenes I have ever seen in a film. Truly a haunting tale that is equally engaging and thought provoking, I give it 5 out of 5.

I couldnt' get over how insane some of those camera shots were. That last scene at the end had to be almost 10 minutes! I can't wait for this to make DVD

I really want to see this movie... So bad in fact that I didn't read Red Death's review. But I see that it got five stars. That's really cool to me.

We actually found a baby sitter that is so happy to get out of the house, she only charges $3 an hour... I feel like a whole new world has opened up to me now. We're going to see this one next weekend I believe.

It might not be as fun as a cruise... but...

Anyway, all that to say... Thanks for the review Red Death. I wasn't sure about the premise on this one, but now I'm pretty psyched.

I saw this movie specifically BECAUSE I read the HISHE review and I'm so glad I did. Very moving. Alfonso Cuaron is a genius. I didn't even realize he had directed the movie till I saw the credits.

you've got to love it that the only comic relief...

possible SPOILER ALERT...

is a fart joke.

I laughed, I cried, and it literally moved me, conservative bastard that I am.

Yes, I have to say that this is one of those movies that was already awesome, but keeps growing on you more and more. I can't stop thinking about it and as more and more people I know go to see it, I get to talk about it more, and I'm even more blown away by it!

But yes, I agree, Alfonso Cuaron is a genius.

It has been a long time since I've gotten so immersed in a movie. I think I forgot to breathe for about 30 minutes close to the end...

It just makes me wonder though Almost all movies set in the future depict a world that is SO SCREWED UP that it's nearly unlivable. Except for The Fifth Element. So, do movie makers know something that we don't? Or are they just "glass half empty" people?

It scares the poop out of me!

havent seen this movie, dying to get my hands on the dvd.

and hey the story line is similar to that comic Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan, they're makin it into a movie too...cant wait for this one too...

hollywood mvoie ideas :
comics
games
novels
sequels/prequels

I think they did this movie a great disservice by marketing it as a sci-fi movie. People who were looking for a futuristic world like the one the studio were claiming it measured up to, Bladerunner, are going to be very disaapointed. And as far as the general public and academy is concered sci-fi is basicly kids stuff.

All that aside, it is simply a great movie.
And if classified and marketed as a Drama, it could have won best picture. Yet, it's fate is bound to be fall through the cracks as not being sci-fi enough and not being "realisitic" enough for drama.

That's a really good point and probably spot on. Such a shame too...I think this movie is amazing.
