A really wonderful film. Totally stunning and a solid 4 out of 5. I'd love to hear what you all thought...

Coraline
i haven't seen it and i think my parents won't let me see it (after Tim Burton made corpse bride)even though I don't really care to see it cause it looks creepyand my neighbor said it had a really creepy ending but um she said the movie was good i guess that makes me want to see it but im positive my parents will be skeptical
Coraline
I thought the movie was really good, except for the first half I had a real hard time actually liking any character. Coraline is kind of a brat and her parents aren't really doing much to help it either. It wasn't till after halfway I started to enjoy the "story". Visually though, good lord! It's awesome!
Coraline
I loved it! It's visually stunning and left me with a lot to think about. I too was annoyed by her at times, but then I thought that is how most girls her age (and adults) can be...a little self-absorbed, a little rude-ish. It seemed pretty true. I do agree, Tina, when you talked in your review about the message: be happy with boredom, kids! At least you still have eyes! But the real theme of be careful what you wish for came through well.
One thing hung me up though. As soon as the game started, and she was searching for ghost eyes that are in baubles, I was like wha??
I wonder what the age limit would be for this movie. 10ish? I was a morbid child, so I probably would have liked it at a younger age than most, but I think it would be too much for many kids.
Coraline
yeah, I agree she was probably an accurate girl her age...and I liked that she learned to care/think about others at the end. I kind of wish we (the audience, not necessarily Coraline) would have seen some redeeming qualities with the parents in the beginning.
Anyway, yeah, I think 10 would be good. Maybe sooner in some cases, as long as your kids are grasping the difference between fantasy and reality...and won't be too disturbed by the idea of "other mother." I actually think kids would really enjoy it, and in some ways our "big" adult brains probably make it even scarier. Young kids would probably just be in awe. :)
I'm glad you loved it! I wish we had seen it in 3D...still never seen anything in 3D. :(

Hey Red, is whatever theater you go to, like mine? Where they show trailers for movies that are supposedly in 3D, but they never actually play the movie in 3D?
It annoys the heck out of me.
Coraline
Why did you have to mention the opening credits???
I MISSED THE OPENING CREDITS!!!!
Coraline
Fantastic, original, creepy, magical... and not just for kids! :)
Coraline
I really got into that movie! Actually, the author of the book the movie was based off of has another really good book! I think its called The Graveyard Book Very good read.
Coraline
I didn't like this movie. Coraline is one of my favorite books ever so i know I'm being over protective... i admit it... i apologize...
Here's a complaint...
I think downplaying her parents was a huge mistake.
In the book there were references to a time where she wasn't so far removed from them... anyone remember the thing about her father and the Bees? Great story. She drew on it for courage, but it also showed a time when her parents were there for her which, for me, explained why she was so tempted by the other parents. Without that Coraline seemed like a sucker from the start.
I don't know. Spinks & Forcible were cool. But everything else seemed kind of empty to me.
I'm glad I rented it. I'm glad I didn't buy it.

Coraline
I watched Coraline with my little sibbling beacause they wanted to watch it for ever, and once we saw it I was terrified of the toys La La Loopsies. We were in shock after we saw it the first time but when we watched it again we started to love it.
