This was the first short that pushed my computer to it's max. Apparently I had too many layers. The first time i tried to render out the final picture it timed out at 21 hours. When it kept clocking up and up, i decided to try another technique. Basically i had to give up on using motion blur and render all the pieces separately. Otherwise you'd still be waiting for this cartoon.

Credits due:
Stephanie Fisher for doing a sweet Keira Knightly
Bryan English for makin some great pirate music
and Justin Walker for inspiring the "Disney World" joke

HAHAHAHAHAA!!!! YES!!! That was awesome! I loved it especially the ending jokes. "This ain't nothing like the ride in Disney World." and "Excuse me but I believe you have my locker." Hahahaha Priceless. Good job ya all!!

The Pirates clip rocked my socks!

I almost died when Davy Jones from the Monkees showed up at the end! I'm pretty sure the people on my floor hate me for laughing out loud at 7 am.
This cartoon was the perfect way to start off the day!

As always, the final draft blows my mind...even though I know what's coming. Stephanie and Daniel, you both did an INCREDIBLE job with Kiera Knightly and Jack Sparrow! Wow. :D

LetsGoBuffs's picture

Yes, the Davy Jones part was the icing on the cake...because EVERY TIME they mentioned Davy Jones in the movie, I thought of The Monkees. EVERY TIME. lol

Nice work, SimpleCap...I know this one was a beating, but it's awesome and very well thought out!!! And did I mention HILARIOUS?

HISHE RULES.

It looks like the one that once did the wanting suddenly wants to be wanted by a different wanting that has a want of wanting that has never been wanted for the sake of... wantness... ay?"

That made me lol.

"Hey wait just one moment there love... that doesn't help me out in the slightest."

That too.

"It's like someone suddenly just rewrote your characterstics for the sake of creating "pointless drama" regardless of everything you ever said or did before this point!"

Truth!

"I actually was trying to get her in the sack."

Me too Johnny, me too.

Pretty much all of Jack Sparrow's lines were the best HISHE lines ever. The Kiera Knightly immitation is astounding. The artwork is perfect (which is no surprise really).

But Will Turner's observation about Elizabeth acting out of character is what made me love this one.

Outstanding.

Not entirely surprising considering your special ability.

Totally excellent short. I'm quite sure this one's gonna be a big hit.

I posted a link to the YouTube version of the new short to Fark.com (figuring that Fark loves to greenlight YouTube links) and it has in fact gotten approval, it just went live on their video page. Hopefully that should give you just a little extra boost.

Catharctic's picture

Unbe-friggin-lieveable! :o

Cap & Buffs, very good work as always, but the impressions were particularly excellent on this one! You just keep setting a new standard with every clip!

I wonder how big Davy's locker is....

Tina's picture

Thanks Ronin...I think it might have helped since we increased by over 4000 views on youtube over night!

Ronin's picture

No problem. Happy to help. On YouTube, the first couple of days a video is up are the most important. Once it gets onto the Most Viewed lists, it will generate it's own traffic (if it's good, which your video is).. it's just getting to those most viewed lists that is key.

For the hell of it, I've also just now submitted it to Digg, so anyone that has a login there should give it a Digg.

Ronin, you truly are a prince among men.

my favorite comment people leave is "there's 2:00 minutes of my life i'll never get back!" This sentence makes me want to reach through the internet and strangle whoever wrote it and say to their face "you freakin watch youtube videos! who are you that this free cartoon is so offensive that two minutes taken from your life better be in absolute satisfaction or else you'll take 30 more seconds to type out a comment about how upset you are? Is that supposed to make me feel bad?" but i don't say it. :D except i just did sort of.

People are free to their own opinion, but man... nevermind.

thanks for all the support guys. the new short appears to be a success. that makes me happy :D

Ronin's picture

yeah, you just gotta love people who snark just for the sake of snarking. It's obvious that the video is well received, since it has a four star rating, you've got tons of subscriptions and most of the comments are positive.. This idiot looks at all of that and says "Hmm.. Everyone else likes it, but I don't.. that must mean it's worthless". Sound reasoning there, Einstein.

Congrats on the success. Hopefully YouTube will feature one of your videos at some point. It's amazing how many views your shorts have racked up under other accounts. You should try messaging the people who posted them to see if you can get them to point people your way.

To be honest, even theough the movie had some good points, it was so terribly long that this short should have been, "IF IT ENDED!"

HEY, will you guys ever do an oscar version for your shorts? You can have the fans vote for their favorites in different areas.

:!: ALERT! GREAT IDEA! :!:

Computer messed up on me. I had a long speech about how great it is and how correct and to the point, but lost it.

You really outdone yourself this time. Thank you for this treasure.

I used to be a HUGE fan!!...I just think now you guys are trying to kick these shorts out way too quickly and it's taking away from the quality. The last 3 or 4 shorts were not the caliber the caught my attention a year or so ago...
...Sorry, just a little disapointed. Hope it can be fixed.

Daniel's picture

kicking out shorts too quickly.. hehe.. you're funny.

LetsGoBuffs's picture

Hey BlackRock -
Sorry you didn't like it. SimpleCap especially busted his butt on this one. We didn't see him for weeks. Since the HISHE crew all has "real" jobs, they all have to produce this stuff in their free time.

In my opinion, I think the last 2 shorts are two of my favorites, beaten only by Superman and Willy Wonka. So it just depends on what you're after.

A Look back at it's a wonderful life was of a lesser quality?
My expectations must be really low because that one impressed the heck out of me. Though I'm not sure whether or not it was an actual HISHE. More of a short film like How to survive an Alien Attack or Level 16.

I thought that Borat & the Texas Chain Saw Massacre were pretty obviously rushed (but since one seemed like a holiday card and the other a knee-jerk reaction to a film... I kinda wrote them off to a different category from, say, How Superman should have ended).

Though I do hope Borat will be redone someday when they have time to tell the story of how Pamela Anderson rehearsed for her completely unrehearsed role.

I digress.

With DMC it was just fun to see them find the film's flaw and then joke about it in a way that captures the film's atmosphere. That was the thing that got to me here. The re-creation of the film's atmosphere.

All right that and the immitations. Immitations and atmosphere.

IMO, the very best HISHEs will always be the ones where they pay tribute to the films they love (Superman, Star Wars, Lord of the rings, etc). But as far as making fun of flawed movies... I thought this was every bit as good as the Matrix's HISHE.

Not that I know whether or not they liked Dead Man's Chest, Superman, Star Wars, the Matrix or Lord of the Rings, you know? I'm just rambling.

It's spring break. You'll probably get a lot of rambling from me this week.

I'm bored.

Tina's picture

Hmmm...HISHE Oscars, that's really interesting. It is true that everyone has their favorite and for different reasons. It would be fun to see the votes there...

And Citizenbuck, your rambling really cracks me up so feel free to continue.

CTALONS's picture

I have to send my support out to DCCOMICSRULE on this...

1. Seeing the HISHE just brought back tramatic flashbacks of that damn pirate movie that refused to end. It is right up there with that never ending Contact movie. Watched the whole movie, which exhibited tremendous bladder control I must say, and then no ending! And the alien was her dad?! Come on man! OK, OK, I went through a lot of therapy to get through all of this. Yet, the therapist promised me that there would never be another never ending movie without an end! Liar!

2. It would be great to have a HISHE oscars, you could put up a bunch of awards, and even do a How "The Oscars" Should Have Ended!
My vote:
Best line reading: "They mostly come at night...mostly.

That was excellent. Priceless to the end.

I love the line about it being nothing like the Disney ride and Davey Jones Monkees joke. That and the rewriting of Kira's character line.

This is the best yet!

Don't forget the wanting... wanter... wantness... one. Ah? :D

What age group does this site cater to; under 10? I haven't seen anything funny on here yet. These endings suck, you should be forced to sit and watch your own *edited because i'm a moron with no respect for other people*

babbzilla's picture

Your insults suck. I'd love to watch all the movies for 5 days straight. But the real fun is annoying and picking on people like you for 5 days straight. But I don't think you are gonna stick around long enought to hear 'em. So with that...

Dead Man's Chest still funny stuff!!

Daniel's picture

banned.
see the rules.

Smeasle's picture

Dude, why do people even join forums of websites they dislike? And how does insulting the creators help in any way? I think people like that are just looking for an excuse to bring other people down.

Besides, not only has this person just proved that they are a jerk, but they've also shown everyone else on this forum that they have a poor sense of humor, and exceedingly bad taste.

Lame.
