Empire was a short that excited me to the core, then absolutely terrified me, then went back to bliss again. Once production began, the challenge to NOT do what everyone's already done in a star wars spoof before quickly took hold and sent me into a state of "FREAK OUT."  With so many great parodies, with robot chicken and family guy full length specials, our window to not copycat was slim.  Tina and I went back and forth on the script for days.   I called almost everyone I knew and took polls on what ideas made them laugh more or sounded more satisfying.  And while we laughed at the notions being written, something wasn't right.  It made me a nervous wreck, and Tina wanted to kill me.  Then one day (literally the last second possible) it clicked.  The voice in my head (OB-1) said, "Just don't let Luke escape"...  Luke shouldn't escape!  Vader would totally use the force to hold Luke from diving off the platform, because he's the only one who isn't afraid to use a force grip on someone!  And Yoda already established that objects can be held and moved in mid air!  We were back in the game.  Tina agreed and said  "eff'n make it, already!"  Not really. :)  but sort of. :) ha!After all that stupid drama, we started recording, and I didn't leave the house for 2 weeks.THE CREDITS ARE:Written By: Tina Alexander and Daniel BaxterDarth Vader - Sam Johnson (who played Venom in our spiderman 3 HISHE)Emperor, & everyone else - Daniel BaxterMusic - Bryan EnglishAnimators - Daniel Baxter and Eric MehnerEric is another first timer to the HISHE animation engine. The Empire HISHE is a very special short to me.  Not only is it a celebration of possibly THE MOST influencial movie of my childhood, but it also is a testiment of how far HISHE has come since our first Star Wars spoof.  I thank God for the steady climb.  I hope you enjoyed it.

Thanks for sending it back to me!Such an epic HISHE, I always hated how in Episode III, he chocked Padme and nearly killed her even after we watched 3 full movies of his love for her and the extreme lengths to save her. Most parodies leave that alone like it's acceptable to just say "It was the influence of the dark side" but he should at least have even the slightest compassion for his son.The Darth Vader design is sooo good, probably your best out of all of them.

Talk about an interesting twist! I mean why wouldnt vader be excited? and kiddo on the little "mouse droid"! EDIT: GAAAH beaten again! (I think I'm becoming OCD about this...) I personally would have never thought of that....Good one Dan! good one!

 Waiting to get home so I could watch this was the hardest thing I've ever had to do... and I once had to saw my own head off to escape a bear trap!What a fun short.  Very light-hearted and when you take RotJ into consideration it makes alot of sense.  The animation was top notch as usuals and the voices were great.kudos. I literally, literally squeeled with joy when I saw this video in my email inbox.  I've been following HISHE for as long as I can remember (well, as long as you have been making videos and I have watched them), and you have never, ever let me down!  I'm very happy to see one of my favorite films become a HISHE, and the idea was excellent.  No way Luke is getting away! (now just do Jurassic Park, please...)

This episode was amazing! I'm impressed with what you can do with that animating software of yours. Could you, please, tell me which software it is? I have anime studio, but your movies look 10 times more detailed.Thanks, and keep up with the HISHE episodes!

at teh end were Vader Force Grips Luke and then says: more like the most powerfull dad ever.and then he closes his fist.....it could be cool if a 'auch' from luke were added...since Vader is using his hand to control Luke :)

This was the best HISHE! I so hope you soon make ROTJ because it's my favorite movie AND the prequels too, because we all know they ended wrong way. ;) Somebody has to remind Padme that she was supposed to die AFTER Leia had sometime to create memories of her! And when Vader is singing in the rain "I have a daughter", somebody will have to tell him that the daughter is the person he actually tortured. xD

you must've loved animating darth vader because you didn't have to spend hours of torture animating the lipsyncing XD
