So is LOST wearing everyone else out as much as it is me?
Can it pull out of the dull slope it seems to be heading down?
Do you think the final answers will ever live up to the anticipation?
What is it about this latest batch of episodes that seems so weak compared to the last two Seasons?

Comments:

Lost is the A-Team! How did I miss the connection before?

That is GENIUS!

Has anyone either been to or been watching Comic Con 07? Because the LOST producers panel has revealed that Michael is scheduled to return to the island. This may be old news, I don't know, but it's still pretty exciting.

LetsGoBuffs's picture

I don't know if you've heard yet, but LOST returns on January 31! YEEHAW!

Yeah, the trailer for the new season has me jazzed:

I saw this really great video of J.J. Abrams at TED (pre-Cloverfield). It was a really unique insight into what makes his creative brain tick...and The Mystery Box.

(I'm going to post this on the Cloverfield thread too...)

Also, there's a great new site called find815.com. I haven't personally gotten to dig through there, but there are some interesting little videos.

LOST IS ON SOON! HOORAY!

so that where the "magic box" comes from in season 3? that's pretty awesome

Umm, did anyone else watch it last night. I am confused, and don't really like the future storylines.

Tina's picture

Yeah, I watched it with about 10 other people and a lot of them were disappointed. I wasn't though. I thought what we learned was interesting.

SPOILERS
I think its cool that we know that only 6 get off the island now, and that we know who 3 of them are, and that one of the 6 is probably the person in the coffin (who I think is Ben).

It was interesting to see that Hurley was the first to feel guilty, not Jack. And that Jack was even initially trying to continue the "cover-up" (whatever that might be) and keep Hurley from talking...but we know from the season finale that eventually it eats him up.

And I've been thinking, because SimpleCap and I talked about this last night and he thinks Jack is a selfish jerk (as do a lot of people, I know). But you know, Kate didn't seem nearly as guilty or torn up as him about whatever it is they did, so can you really say that he's not worthy of her?

gilinator5000's picture

i don't really like that it's all "lord of the flies now." Does it really have to be Jack vs. John? I'm afraid that it's going to turn into spider man 3 with too many villians.

Better Lord of the Flies than Gilligan Island

I've been thinking about the show last night alot today, and I'm not too excited about the new season yet. I hope hope HOPE last night's episode was part one of an original 2 hour season premiere, meaning that something big will happen next week and that is the reason there was no big finish to last night's episode. if that doesn't happen i think it's off to a very slow start.

The Jack Vs. John thing to me isn't that annoying, i think it's all just going to lead up to the big secret that everyone in the flash forwards is so freaked out over.

Whatever happens, you know it's gonna be messed up because it is making everyone crazy after they get back. As for the Kate thing. I think we'll see her suffer in her own way whenever she gets her episode. It will all lead up to the jack and kate flash forward in season 3.

wanna take bets how long it takes them to actually get on the helicopter? I'm betting for the 7th episode.

LetsGoBuffs's picture

I was out of town for the season premiere, so I just got to watch it last night (FINALLY!)! Hooray for LOST being back!

I wasn't disappointed at all. I thought the split in the castaways is really interesting, but obviously it won't make much difference if both Jack and Hurley are part of the Oceanic 6. It was a pretty heavy split, considering that Jack and Hurley have always been really close. And even when they get off the island, they're still not over the split. I think that was a very important moment.

I'm interested to know who is making them lie about their time on the island. Who was that "lawyer" guy? How could anyone know what they're covering up? And what do they have to gain?

I thought Charlie's death was handled very well. I'm glad they took some time with that, and they didn't just gloss over it.

I LOVED the cabin scene! I listened to an interview with Hurley, and he says that the guy who plays Christian Shepard is the one sitting in the chair in the cabin. So was it real, or imagined? Hurley has no previous connection with Christian Shepard, so how could he have conjured him up? Or does he have a connection? And is Christian Shepard Jacob? WHA?

Tina's picture

That's really interesting about Christian Shepherd. Especially that Hurley said it in an interview....I wonder what that means???

I am intrigued by the whole "oceanic 6" thing. I think they are claiming that they were the only survivors and that everyone else died in the crash...at least I think that's part of their secret. But what is most interesting to me is that they are famous enough to warrant signature requests? Would crash victims really be that famous?? Seems kind of weird to me...

Also, I wonder why Kate isn't in prison??

LetsGoBuffs's picture

Also, if the Oceanic 6 are celebrities, then that means the person in the coffin is NOT part of the Oceanic 6. There would be lots of media there if they were famous.

(Someone else thought of that...I'm not that smart!)

It might make sense for Ben or Juliet to be in the coffin because they wouldn't be part of "The Oceanic 6". I dunno.

Also, they keep eluding to the Penny Widmore statement about with enough money and determination, you can find anyone...that makes me think that she's going to find her way to the island at some point. So that will be interesting.

Can't wait until tomorrow!

Yea, I think it has to be Ben in that coffin.
No one knows him off the island so he wouldn't have people at his funeral, and Jack is neither his friend or family. Not even on nice enough terms to even say he was a friend when he was the only one to show up to the funeral. I think he would at least say he was a friend of Juliet. But, will probably have to watch the season and see what happens and who gets introduced.

Last night was the first episode I've ever seen. It was pretty good stuff... easier to follow than I thought it would be, but I kept thinking of Jeeptimus looking at the DVDs.

It seemed like they've probably put off killing that one guy probably a little too long. That was awkward.

Aside from that I enjoyed it.

LetsGoBuffs's picture

I knew you couldn't resist, Buck! I'm telling you - - this show is amazing. I'm not even much on television shows, but LOST has raised the bar!

That one guy is REALLY important, and probably the only person that knows everything that's going on. As much as he's a butthead, I probably wouldn't kill him either! But I think it was Simplecap that had a great idea. Why don't they just gag him? That way they wouldn't have to listen to his manipulative crap!

LOST NEWS!

"In a recent chat with Variety, Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse explained the plan for the remainder of season 4. Due to the fact that they won't have time to craft eight more episodes, the plan is to complete five more episodes and tack three more on to season 5 of the series. This will bring the total of episodes in season 4 to 13.

Cuse admitted that some stories will have to be condensed, but he also said that they will be able to complete season 4's storyline in the remaining episodes. "We're going to try to make as many as we can and do a good job of finishing out this season," Cuse said. " We'll have to compress some of the storytelling we planned for this season, and that may not be a bad thing. Damon and I feel like we know how we can finish it off and still make it a really, really great story."

Overall, this is great news. We may not get a full 16 episodes this season, but the story will wrap up and leave us with 19 episodes in season 5. It's a good day for Lost fans."

And then someone replied to this post by saying "That's OK...16 is a cursed number anyway!"

HOORAY 13 EPISODES!

Tina's picture

AWESOME! I'm so glad...and if they intend to finish the story arc for season 4, then I bet they will be really good episodes. Sweet!

Tina's picture

wow. that is the most genius, well thought out theory I have read. I've heard people throw out similar ideas...but not as detailed and convincing as this.

I think he's probably spot on. Cool find!!

Tina's picture

I should note that I do think he's wrong about some things...but since he wrote it before the "Ben killed all of Dharma" episode, I'm pretty impressed. He also revises his theory further down in the comments if you have lots of time to read them all. :)

I do think it will end up being something related to the "time space" issue. Not time travel really (since they've already said that's not it), but just a kind of time bubble thing like this guy said. Has anyone been watching the pop up video episodes that they play before the new one. They mentioned the importance of all the new characters names and even said that Minkowski is a mathematician famous for his work on the time space continuum. Kind of interesting.

No discussion on last week?
