Look, lots of people seem to like this.  I don't want to discourage your good B movie fun, but I think there are far superior choices.  I give it 2 out of 5.FULL REVIEW

"The acting is terrible.  But it's supposed to be you say?  Oh, okay, I'll allow that... I guess."I'm glad you mentioned that. I've been saying it myself for a while now. Go look up a cheesey B-movie or any film that's famous for being a failure on IMDB and check out the user reviews. There is always going to be the people who like the movie and say things like "Yeah the movie is supposed to be bad" or "The movie is terrible on purpose." No. No one makes a movie with the intentions of it being crap. The people who make these movies think it's an absolute work of genuis. This movie didn't even look funny, I'm guessing that's what they were going for. But it looks like it's trying to be funny by being violent. No. They're are violent movies that are funny, not comedies that work by being bloody.

I also felt the movie was a huge disapointment.  I was expecting it to be purposely b-movie over the top ridiculous, but I was also expecting "Grindhouse - Planet Terror" quality.  Planet Terror has so many fantastic camera blips, grungy film grain, bad edits, it makes Machete look embarrassing in terms of creating the old fantastic beat up film look.  I was expecting this same technique and it isn't in the movie.  But if that's not what Rodriguez was going for, I can dig that, except  where in Planet Terror there are many many characters to love with their cheezy bad lines, Machete has lots of people filled with rage of some sort, and it makes you never care who lives or dies... or really care about the finale.   I mean, anyone with any sense can tell where the finale is heading because it's that predictable. Also, spoiler, what was the purpose of De Niro dying twice? In my opinion, people are liking this movie, because a. they hate the government, and love the stabs at the current situation.  B. they are Rodriguez fans till they die and will watch and praise anything he does (which you can't blame him for that) or C. its the naked chicks. (I would also say D. violence, but I wasn't really impressed with the fighting in this movie)I watched Black Dynamite a while back which totally glorifies the terrible film quality of the old explotation genre (which also has nudity) and I thought that movie was hilariously perfect.  Machete has the same stuff plus 300 style limbs getting cut off, and I felt extremely uncomfortable... this is probably because there was a family with some kid who looked like he was in the second grade sitting 4 seats over and two other families with infants (including one with a stroller) in the audience.  Man, don't even get me started on parents who bring their babies to movie theaters. But when I've seen Rodriguez say he made Spy Kids so he could have a film his kids could watch, when I know he purposely hid the scene where his son dies in Planet Terror, because he didn't want to freak out his child... it just made me want to tell all those families to get there stinkin kids out of this movie!  grrrrr. But even beyond that... I have no interest to watch Machete again.  I can watch Grindhouse and get all the greatest parts from the original trailer.   Maybe I just like the zombie genre more... who knows.

i couldn't disagree with you more. HOWEVER, the movie wasn't perfect. it was 30 minutes too long, and needed WAY more violent bloody action and less "plot". But the badly-acted, campy dialog and the shoe-horned immigration issues were excellent. And when it comes to B-movie fun, the movie certainly delivered. i laughed plenty and left the theater satisfied.

I've been reading reviews in my local newspaper about this movie. The words 'wicked', 'great action, 'awesome acting' kept coming up so I thought to myself, 'This movie looks pretty sweet, I'm gonna watch it first chance i get,' BIG MISTAKE! I have never hated an action movie this bad ever before! Usually I'm not pretty strict on movies and I give every movie a chance despite it's reviews and I end up enjoying most of them, this is the exception. Whoever wrote the review in the paper must have been high when he watched the movie!     First of all the acting, no emotion was given by any of the actors, it was like they were reading through the que cards for the first time in each take. Secondly, there was no plot, just 2 hours of bloody violence, racism, profanity and nudity. I couldn't wait for the movie to end! I seriously don't know why anyone would even make this movie, it's a complete waste of time and money. Thank god I watched for free at my friends house and didn't lose my weekly allowance on complete crap.                             I give it 1 out of 5 stars
