Wow was this movie boring! Seriously, RED was a huge disappointment considering I pretty much love everyone in it on some level. This is one of those films that makes me wonder if everyone involved didn't just sign up to get paid hanging out with their friends, and to heck with actually making an enjoyable movie.FULL REVIEW

RED - Movie review
Hey,Long time reader, first time poster. I normally agree with all of your reviews, but this one is so far off base. I watched this movie this weekend and thought it was fantastic. I never expected an action movie to bring me into the characters background because it would have took 2.5 hours. That is not a summer action flick.Even some of the information in your review is actually wrong. I won't say what it is because that would spoil it. They don't all come out of it okay though.John malokvich aboustly stole this movie and he had a ton of funny scenes that did not exist in the trailer. Maybe you went into expecting this to be academy ward winning film? It was a amazing summer movie and I not sure how/what you watched but your review is completely off base.
off base?
how is October a summer release? I'm on Tina's side on this one, I also thought the movie was garbage. As someone with no background to the D.C. series I felt like this story was not at all interesting. The transition method of post cards annoyed me to death, the action was basic fire balls and fist fights, the chemistry of the cast was stale, the motivation is your basic, "oh i hope they pull it off!"... I just didn't like it. and I would guess the 200+ empty seats surrounding me on opening day didn't like the movie either. Being a fan of actors is one thing, that doesn't mean this movie deserves high praises.Love that trailer though, Tina :) sums it all up IMO.
RE: Off Base
Yesit's october but the movie was a summer style action type movie. Threatre i was in was packed at 12 o'clock showing on a saturday. Like i said i get some of the points tina was getting at and i love 99% of her reviews. Off base part of this movie is about some of the comments she made that just were not true in general.- They all don't end up okay.- All funny scenes did not exist in the trailer.I get she didn't like the movie and thats fine not everyone has to but to put things there that aren't true doesn't seem fair to the movie. Hence the off base comment.
Listen Telepwnsauce, 1st off
Listen Telepwnsauce, 1st off all I wanna say, Hi n Welcome 2 HISHE.com! Secondly, Tina and Daniel aren't being off base. They are both just giving their own opinions of what they think of the movie. On this site, people are free to say that they love or hate a movie no matter what others think. If you like the movie then it's fine, Im glad u enjoyed it! But if Tina doesn't feel that the movie appeals to her then its also fine. So she isn't really being off base, shes just telling us what SHE didn't like about the movie which she has the right 2 do. A movie is only good or bad depending on the audience watching it. I for one find the movie a little disappointing because I was expecting much much more. The movie did keep me mildly entertained which is why I give out 3/5 stars. hamzak rollin out!
Did you Read my post?
I explained the off base comment. I even said everything you said, that everyone has there own opinons. Fact is her reviews actually had things in it that where not true.Which i pointed it. When giving a review it is fair to give your own opinon heck she could say it's the WORST movie ever. That is fine it's her opinion. But to say things that just where not true. Is not fair to the movie and i wanted to point that out.The things that were not true where not opinion base but fact.I suppose the funny scenes part could be objective if you didn't find some parts funny. But if you go by what the movie is considered a funny scene, what they were trying to do with a character all of that was not in the preivew. still the funny scene thing could be objective. But the other part is not.
You are RIGHT
Hi Telepwnsauce! Welcome to the forum. I thought I would jump in and save you a bit, although thanks guys for trying to defend me. He's actually right and I will change my review to correct it (although I don't know if you'll love what I have to say about it). :) I really appreciate you being a reader and I am totally fine admitting I make mistakes, cause I totally do. In fact, this particular mistake just adds support for why I thought this movie failed. But like we always say (and some have pointed out) everyone sees movies differently and can totally have their own opinion. I do agree Malkovich was pretty darn funny and the most entertaining thing in the film... although I stand by my comment that some of his best stuff was blown by the preview. Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time with the film, and again, keep the comments coming!! :)
I Was Entertained...
Okay, so, I agree there was a lot more that could have been done. I don't know if the blame lies at the Directors hands or the Editors but there was a lot of down time in the film. The movie would have done much better with a faster pace. I think everything that was needed to make it was there, but, they obviously don't know how to edit anything. However, I was entertained by it and thought it was effective as a popcorn flick. Could have been more, but whatever, this director won't be doing much more anytime soon. And I do agree with someone else who mentioned John Malkovich stole the movie and seemed to be the only actor having fun with his role. Willis and Freeman seemed to just be there. Helen Mirren wasn't on enough for me to guage her.Gary Marshall would have directed it better. I think him anyways. I remember someone working with him and he would always just yell at the actors "Faster!". That advice would have done well for this. Speed makes a comedy.Oh, and what is it with Hollywood and killing the black guys every single time?
Ocean's Eleven
I thought this was a film that desperately wanted to be perceived as a super cool "Ocean's Eleven" type film with an elaborate plan and cool quippy dialogue. But it wasn't. The director was certainly no Soderbergh. I agree with you that the editors and director were very much to blame.
thx 4 the save :)
Hey,Like i said i love/agree with almost all your reviews. Thanks for the save through. i know interent arguements are hard to deal with (most time go nowhere) i was actually giving up on this one after my last post. Regardless I appericate the fact you read/response to the comments.Hope to continue to read/enjoy more reviews in the future :)
I liked the movie...
If you didn't like it then you did not like it... it;s as simple as that & I'm not going to try and change your opinion, you;re entitled to it. But honestly it does not seem like you were able to follow the story. With that being said, honestly I was expecting something a lot more goofball based on the trailers but it was a good movie and I was happily dissapointed. The only 2 things I did not like about the movie were:* They never really explained in detail the reason the conspirators were doing what they were doing. *spoilers marked below** The goofy "Hudson Hawk"-esque final scene just did not fit the tone of the movie at all. It was as out of place as the Boondock Saints 2 wild west gunslinger scene.RED was about a bunch of retired agents from multiple Intel Agencies... being labeled "R.E.D." had absolutely nothing to do with the order to take them out at all. It was a classification of current status standing in the eyes of the agency... same as retired, deceased, MIA, POW, what have you.Not even all of the actors/actresses involved were targeted, they were associates and connections Bruce Willis had amassed over the years. SPOILERS: ***DO NOT READ IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW***The current VP of the USA went nuts in Guatemala and killed a bunch of civilians. He was the son of a powerful Senator so it was covered up. Bruce Willis & John Malkovich were part of the team that covered it up. So was the arms dealer they contacted at the mansion. Anyways The Arms dealer was the only one who knew exactly what was going on the entire time so he made a joint partnership with some of the higher ups in the CIA.This partnership would allow them to put the VP in the white House as President. As President they would be able to blackmail him with the knowledge of what he did so they could get whateveer they wanted whenever they wanted. Bruce Willis & John Malkovich were targeed because while they did not know what happened specifically they were involved and if a news reporter with absolutely zero involvement could figure it out these retired agents were a liability. Morgan Freeman was targeted because he was doing some digging for Willis. The MI6 agent & KGB agent they picked up alkong the way were simply contacts they knew they could trust and had info they could use to get into CIA headquarters.
Good and Bad (Spoilers)
Good Stuff: There were some funny moments which brought a smile to my face, I did think the action sequences were pretty darn good and Malkovich was pretty funny.Bad Stuff:When there wasn't an action sequence going on the story was progessing in a very boring way (1st time i've fallen asleep in an action movie), most of the good jokes were spoiled for me in the previews and I wish they hadn't killed off Morgan Freeman in the mid half of the movie! He roughly got like 25 minutes of screentime so why would they credit him at all in the main cast? As you can see from these points, its an even score so I stick by my 3/5 stars rating since I was Midly entertained.hamzak rollin out!
wow..
Wow, super glad i didn't see this review before the movie, i may not have gone to see it on a whim, luckily I did and am already wanting to go watch it again.I am actually wondering if i saw the same movie, this just reminds me that i should never listen to reviewers heh.
Hmmmm
True, it wasnt the best movie, but dont have souch a high expectatives about all movies , it was pretty decent
new to the posting here
whatched this movie a couple days ago and loved it especilly the car trick bruce wills does that was just awsome
Are you kidding me?!
I thought that that movie rocked! Humor, action, romance, and tons of explosions!!!!!!
RED
This movie was average to say the very least. It had an ensemble cast and it was packed full of individuals who had Oscar winning panache.So...Red. Retired and Extremely Dangerous. A stoy of former CIA operatives and their journey to survive from the very organisation whom they used to serve. The film itself has stunning visuals, quirky characters and clever plot twists which compleltely change the tangent of the story and push the story forward. However, the film fails from the lack of a strong script which is sustained throughout the film rather than in short bursts which I beleive is its major downfall and the reason why it was nominated for so many awards but ended up winning none. Also, Karl Urban fails to embody the CIA agent which he has been tasked with translating onto the big screen. He sounds almost like Batman from the Dark Knight with throat cancer! So this film has its positives and negatives in equal measure. Funny acting, tons of explosions, gunfights and car chases are what make this film great. However, the poor writing, age of the characters, the inadequacy of Karl Urban in his role and the mind-numbing screaming and fight scene bring it down.So overall I'd give it a 2.5/5
Red
I TOTTALY DISagree!!!I loved The movie RED!!!!
Red
Red wasn't fantastic but i enjoyed the movie. it was a great cast. its one of those movies that won't blow your mind but it had a good story. Old people fighting is entertaining. Plain and simple. I didn't like the fact that Morgan freeman died. I also think that the fight between Bruce willis and the CIA guy was epic.
