Seen it? Gonna see it? Thoughts?

Spiderman 3
I saw it. It's uh... well... It's just like the previous Spidermovies except Peter Parker turns slightly emo in this one and has an extremely long "dancing" act. I'm not really sure what i think of this movie yet.
Spiderman 3
DANCING? I, for one, LOVE to see men in spandex do long dancing acts...this movie has just moved up on my list of stuff to see!
(Just behind Pirates of the Caribbean Havana Nights, Breakin' 3, and Wild Hogs)
Spiderman 3
Yeah, sadly none of the dancing is in spandex. It's pretty gag worthy actually. There were things I really liked about this movie, but it was entirely too long with some ridiculous scenes that could have obviously been cut.
Definitely enjoyed Bruce Campbell's scenes though!
Spiderman 3
I thought it was fairly good, maybe not as well thought out as the second one, it was a nice experience and worth the seven dollars I payed to see it. Though, I did think it was a little weird that all the problems and story archs of the movie were resolved within five whole minutes near the end.
Spiderman 3
i thought it was alright. not bad at all. might of been a bit too eh in places. but the end was good. (end as in the fight not the soppy singing or crying)
hopefully the next one will have more venom/carnage not just a tiny bit like this did.
it was ok
:!: :!:

Spiderman 3
**SPOILER ALERT**
Many things are implied that you might not want to know if you haven't seen the movie yet. Oh yeah, and it's really long, too!
I walked out at the END of the movie saying, "Yeah, I really liked it, but I could've done without all the Raimi-esque quirks." (Emphasis explained at end of post, hope you stay for it!)
Sam Raimi is a convicted weirdo, and this movie at times reminded me a lot of Army of Darkness. The whole "nerd amplified" joke was cute, but I think people may have lost track of the real story because the joke lasted too long.
And once again, super-villains aren't super enough to last more than one movie. Ah, if only we would learn from the mistakes of the original Batman franchise. I thought they were leaving room for a possible Venom movie, but my brother mentioned something that I will need to go back and look for that will make Venom's return to the silver screen very difficult if not impossible.
My last MAJOR beef with this movie and the other two: Why, please tell me why......I gotta know.....WHY does Spider-Man have to cry like a little baby all the time? I understand getting emotional and shedding a tear or two, but the 3-time repeat of our hero on the verge of an emotional breakdown I believe has now killed the franchise. People in the theater were actually groaning and even saying, "Oh God, here we go with the crying thing again!" Raimi would be much more sought after as a director if he could make a series of movies that don't repeat EVERYTHING over and over.
I will applaud the overall story, though. It was great to see them work some major players into the story quite creatively. They weren't quite in their original roles, but when you've got one movie to get them in play, you have to make adjustments. I thought that was done well with Gwen, Capt. Stacey, & Eddie.
Kudos to Topher Grace for delivering some decent acting to go along with his extensive trips to the makeup trailer! He was quite believable when the mask was peeled back. He impressed me.
Also, great review by Tina. All great points. I believe all the Raimi-isms could have been tolerated enough for another star...until the ending. Oh wait, no, the next ending. Nope, THAT ending. Even my buddy's 16-year-old said, "Holy crap, they went to black 3 times!"
And with that, we bid adieu to Spider-Man for probably another 20 years. Thanks for a good run Raimi. And the rerun. And another rerun. Grr, that ticks me off!
--Cath--
P.S. I did like the movie other than the stuff I just complained about! :P It was really just the predictability of Raimi's directing that annoyed me, and that was further amplified by what Tina said about the score. If you're hearing the same things you've already heard, it's hard not to notice that you're seeing the same things you've already seen.
'nuff said
Spiderman 3
GREAT comments Cath!
I agree with everything and love THIS:

Also, I would like to see an edited version of this movie with all the crying and dancing cut out. I think it would be a lot better.
Topher was good, but I was distracted by the fact that I heard him in an interview mention that he had lost so many roles to Tobey because people think they are the same person.
Spiderman 3
I didn't read all of your comments Cath... simply because I haven't seen Spiderman 3 yet. But I did read your intro about the "Raimi-esque quirks" and I can imagine what your talking about.
there were moments in Spiderman 2 where I thought "Wow. This guy truly hates his audience." How else could you explain the film-making contempt that radiated from the part where the subway people look at Spidey without his mask and say "Don't worry, we won't tell." Or the whole thing with the "Raindrops keep falling on my head" montage that brought the film to a screeching halt midway through.
It was a good movie (spiderman 2), but yeah... I totally felt like he's getting sick of comic readers telling him what to do.
Tina, glad to see you're reviewing again... Welcome back!

And Tina, thanks! Also, I could see how that comment would distract you, although I think he was just being a nerd by saying that.

Spiderman 3
This movie sucked. Heres why (Major spoilers, obviously):
Emo Peter Parker (so apparently the effects of the symbiote include getting a crappy hairdo... and a fetish for Fallout Boy?)
Dancing Peter Parker (all those minutes strutting could have been spent... oh I dunno... developing characters???)
Illogical/Underdeveloped characters -
Harry: Brilliant plan of revenge = taunting Spidey into fight over MJ, then getting crap kicked out of him and blown up. Genius.
Harry's Stupid Butler: Brilliant act of devotion to his master = Finally telling Harry his dad's a psycho after Harry gets his Twoface treatment, just in time for Harry to help out in the final battle. Very convenient.
MJ: Why didn't she just ask Peter for help on the bridge? Harry wasn't close enough to hear them, and did she forget that she's dating SPIDERMAN??!!
Sandman: As mentioned before, goes from Spidey smashing sand hulk to penitent, "doin' it for my daughter" sap in a flash.
Worst of all... VENOM got punked!!! I watched this movie for the simple fact that Venom was going to be in it, and what do we get? Topher Grace doing his usual quirky sarcastic geek routine for 2 hours, and Venom for oh... 20 minutes? He wasn't even in the movie enough to actually be called "Venom" The greatest Spidey villain (debatable, I know, but bite me...) is relegated to 1 fight, and then killed off. Not the "oohh... maybe he'll come back" type of killing off, but the "blown to bits from 5 feet away so you can be darn sure he ain't coming back" type. It wasn't even a 1-on-1 fight. Oh no. He had to go asking for help. Sandman had more screen time. Harry had more screen time.
Basically, this was an overstuffed mess. No character had enough time to get developed correctly, and all the campy bits started reminding me of those god-awful Batman sequels. And Venom go punked.
Spiderman 3
man, was i so looking forward for this movie.
it was ..ok... just cos i love spiderman. right now, i hate sam raimi [why did they ever give him spidey???? ], tobey[ which movie did he act in before this???? ] and kirsten [for proviing to me for the third time, that its not me, shes really ugly ]
spidey 1 and 2 were good movies. as far as movies go. but seriously, if ur trying to make a comic into a movie, make a comic into the movie. the mask coming off??? that was a big deal in the recent "civil war" comics.
and wheres the trademark spidey wisecracks???????? thats like an integral part of spiderman. the villains hate him for that, the heroes hate him for that.... the whole time ur reading a spidey comic ur on the floor laughing, although the story is really serious.
i still dont get the introduction of random characters just for the heck of it. gwen, the captain, wtf???
bryce was wasted, so was cromwell [is that the name? ]
venom was the best part in the whole movie. the sandman graphics were totally awesome. and the teary, mushy stuff was soooo icky.
everybody is crying the whole time. harry loses his memory for sometime, and then gains it back. just like that. he was cool though. the butler knows the truth all along. huh?????????????? how very convenient ! ! !
and suddenly as soon as amazingly venom vasporizes [ ] sandman apologizes and is done. and oh oh.... we still have the death speech .... and 'lil tobeys quivering lips.
i was jumping off my chair laughing when he started crying when kirsten breaks up wit him. sucha loser. lets not even discus his whole cool ghuy bad guy thingy. he either cant act, or it was just bad direction.
aunt may meah, the news reporters.... HILARIOUS ! ! ! ! ! !
the whole movie was like a spoof. seriously, we can just add this movie in the hishe list already. theres no need to make fun of this movie. its a joke.
im sorry if i offended anyone. really needed to vent.
feel good now.
:D

*SPOILER ALERT* added by admin :)
How disappointing is it that venom can be defeated by, of all things, sound waves? I didn't think pitch and frequency would be enough to bring down an intergalatic parasite, but what do I know?
Also, the movie felt like i was watching a tricked out version of the mask. HATED IT. There were things I like about the movie, but Spider-Man should not end on a note where you are searching for things that you like. It should have been "blow me away awesome." I understand the incorporating of venom, and the darker side of spider man, I just thought it was poorly done. By far the worst of the three IMO. Hate it when trilogies end on a downer.
Spiderman 3
Welcome Mr. Bean! You reminded me of something I intended to put in my review:
Quote:
THANK YOU!! Gosh that really bugged me in the movie...I thought for Harry, wow, do you really love me, because you have pretty ridiculous timing.
Also, great point about MJ on the bridge. The more I discuss this movie, the more I want to go back and give it two stars instead of three. ugh!
Spiderman 3
still haven't seen it, never planned to after I saw the first commercial.
What were they thinking?
I have to say that this movie was as good as the first two, but no better. it was interesting but there were a few too many moments that I would have had no problem with walking out of the theater for a while.
What was up with all the dancing junk? The movie would have been much less confusing if they would have cut the dancing scenes with MJ and Harry, and when Peter was walking down the street winking and pointing at everybody. It added absolutely nothing to the story and left me confused.
What was with their character development too? Harry's Butler decides to wait until Harry gets half his face blown off to tell him what happened to his dad. and how was Harry stupid enough to not be ready for Peter to come and beat him up. The sandman was way to confusing also. he goes from looking for money for his daughter, to wanting to kill spiderman, to wanting money for his daughter again. and they never explained what his inspiration to kill Uncle Ben was.
Most of the fights were confusing too. they didn't use a mounted camera and because of that it was extremely jumpy and made it really difficult to focus on what was happening. That also meant that alot of the fights were blurred, with a huge emphasis on the first fight between Harry and Peter.
Overall the movie was ok but I have seen much better
Spiderman 3
I love the man that plays J Johan Jameson. He's just a riot to me. I hope he gets a spin off. I could totally watch a movie of JJJ running around getting annoyed at stories about superheroes.
The rest of the movie... not may comic films can make it to part three without falling apart. I'll give them that... I was glad to see they made it this far without pulling a Batman Forever on us. Spiderman 3 wasn't a trainwreck, but it wasn't great either.
I don't know... I'm like Cap... I'm going to have to think about this one for a minute.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS... :P
I agree with most of the comments, especially about Venom. He was awesome, but I definitely felt gypped. I mean, come on, I was expecting him to be the main villain. Whatever. I only paid $2.50 to see it, so I guess I can't complain.

...speaking of this guy, does anyone remember that he was the Dad of MJ's fiance in the second movie? They kind of just breezed over that little bit didn't they? Does he just not care that Peter Parker stole his son's future wife!!!???
Spiderman 3
I'm actually glad they did gloss over that. It's not like the film needed any more drama.
Besides, I never got the feeling JJJ was as invested in his home life. He seemed to treat it as a distraction from his job. I mean, he was ready to give his life in Part 1 to protect Parker from the Green Goblin. But then in part 2 when MJ left his son at the altar, his first concern was whether or not anyone'd opened the caviar. The man's priorities are lovely in a way.
Spiderman 3
hm
generally this film is ok i guess
personally i was really let down
i reckon Spiderman 3 is only for die hard Spidey fans
the game apparently sucks too
but if u look at its amazing predecessors i guess this is a film u just have to go see for urself, all of my mates have really varied opinions of this film.
Superhero first aid course
I completely agree that Harry's butler waiting until then to reveal that he knew that Spiderman hadn't killed his father was such a convenient plot hole. I'd have fired the old bastard on the spot for something like that. -=smirk=-
More importantly... Harry's there, dying... at the end... the injury obviously isn't too severe if he's alive and speaking and breathing; and having seen similar real life situations, basically he's probably just bleeding really badly. You'd think Spiderman might be able to use some of that wonderful web to try and help rather than just let Harry bleed out like that.
Spiderman 3
i agree that i would have liked more venom, but the rest of the movie generally made up for it-especially the "gangsta" peter.

Thank you for this.
Spidey's MO in comics is getting people to hospitals who are in this exact situation, just like any other non-healer type character would do, but NOOOOOO, we have to see Tobey, I mean Peter, cry like a baby for over a minute.
Gah, I'm still pissed at the crying thing. Seriously, people literally groaned in the theater when they sat there in the sunrise crying. Cap, please at least consider the idea I sent you. PLEASE!
Spiderman 3
...I liked it...
Then again I'm a geek who would like any superhero marvel comic movie... Like I loved Daredevil and Electra was okay... the end, for some reason, was a bit unsatisfiying but whatever.
Spoilers!!!
I could have done without the whole Peter's pelvic thrust bit though...
The bulter was convienient but I kinda liked that part. It the whole "You Stupid-head! Peter Paker was right!!" kinda slap to the face. Although Harry did get an explosion to the face so I guess that could work.
J.K. Simmons(J Jameson), Bruce Cambell, Ted Raimi, Topher Grace! Love them!!! I still see Joxer in Ted Raimi though... hehee!
((I suddenly miss that Xena show... that rocked!)) Right well that's my input! Hehehee
