The A Team was everything I expected a summer action movie based on a cheesy 80s show to be. There were definitely some high lights and some serious low points as well. What did you guys think?FULL REVIEW
Comments:
I think some of the funniest
I think some of the funniest movies out there are the ones that don't distract themselves with trying to be "Realistic". The point was to be funny, not convincing. I laughed my butt off when they flew the tank. I totally agree about Murdock, though. I about lost it when he did his braveheart impression.
snooze
I grew up loving the A-team and I fell asleep willingly in this movie. It's a Micheal Bay knock off, and they ditched the A-team van at the very begining! crap on this.
blah
What would be the fun in them just doing the same thing over again? With re-makes, I try not to let myself get distracted with my loyalty to the original. Instead, I try to enjoy the new vision. It usually turns out way better than I thought.
Highly enjoyable if you are willing to let your hair down
Before seeing this movie you have to accept two things:1. It's meant to be ridiculus and therefore some scenes aren't meant to be realistic2. It's a remake of a cult classic series, not the series on the big screen i.e. Star Trek the Motion picture and the following 9 movies (11 is also a remake)That being said my favorite character in the show was Murdock and the character in the movie steals the show, Dwight Shultz (original Murdock) couldn't have done it better. While the special effects may have been lacking they fixed the one major issue I always had with the series; they actually kill people. I mean for commandoes they unloaded thousands of rounds at the baddies and never hit anything. In the film they even did a little tribute with Hannibal taking out some of the baddies with the classic A-Team weapon of choice. The Murdock - BA interactions were right on as was Hannibal's persona of the strict, forgiving leader with a plan. The only real downer was the cameo with Dirk Bennidict (original Face) at the end. However the minor refference to one of Shultz's other character/cameos from another popular series was most welcome if you can spot it.I have to agree that it's a 3/5 maybe a 3.5 because I cherished this show so much as a kid. Well that and MacGuyver which I hope they never ever touch.
double
I watched it again since I missed half of it before... I still stand by my disapointment.
I think a lot of people fail
I think a lot of people fail to remember that a lot of the shows in the 80's were kind of terrible at times. I loved them, but if you actually watch the old A-teams, Hogan's Heros, Knight Rider, Transformers, Thunder Cats, Quantum Leap, MacGuyver etc... you'll find lots of issues with the shows from either an acting, production, or realism perspective. Rose tinted glasses aside, I really enjoyed this movie eventhough the whole docked freighter michaelbaylian explosiongasm was waaaaaayyyyyyyy too unrealistic, the whole getting night owl to shoot hanibal and murdoc thing wasn't really needed, and BA did just straight up murder a dude when he didn't have to.I will say that I liked Hanibals little talk with BA about Ghandi, as well as Lynch's carefree humorous attitude in second half of the movie. I just don't understand why they didn't have night owl/lynch be witty funny the whole time. Oh and why was Don Draper wearing a Demolition Man uniform when he showed up at the end?
Not the worst movie
This is the last movie I saw before I moved out of college for the summer. While it wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, it was definitely the fun I needed to end off the school year and to procrastinate on packing (I saw the midnight showing just for this reason). While the whole "flying a tank" scene was absolutely ridiculous, it also containted my favorite line in the entire movie ("Are they trying to shoot down the planes?" "No... they're trying to fly the tank.")My dad also saw it and he thought it was pretty on par with the original series so he was satisfied with it. I've never really seen the original but I am glad that they didn't try to re-create Mr. T (that just smells like failure). It entertained me, so it did it's job. I give it a 3.5/5
