I've seen the trailer for this once already, is this the reason that the Terminator HISHE is being made or does it just happen for this to come out around the same time? Anway, I was going to say I hear that Arnold Schwarzenegger is supposed to be in this as small role. Since I dont know much about the movie yet. Does the Fox show "The Sarah Conner cronicles" Have any tie-in with this movie.

It's not like we are waiting that much for anything. We are all still enjoying the comic and the store should be open up soon, so it's not like you need to feel rushed.

Seriously though, I remember the third one wasn't that great. So lets have hopes for this one.

Maybe the eye is supposed to be like that? Sounds, pretty unlikely but that seems to be to big a of a flaw to not have been noticed before even being released.

I'll say spoiler now.
The more I think about this movie, the more it makes me sad. The trailer got me so fired up. I thought they finally found a way to reignite the franchise, but no... Bale is so boring in this movie. The Blair character is as important as the old lady that gives Star a carrot, but somehow she keeps getting facetime. and Helena Bonham Carter being a part of skynet is so uninteresting. I was really hoping the movie would be John Conner and Marcus Wright only, and ending with a teaser at the end to save Kyle Reese. But that all went out the window when the movie turned Independence Day heavy with Characters spread all over the freakin place.
WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS:
Why the heck did the machines not chop off Kyle Reese's head the second he was identified in the cattle shoots????
Because it's a stupid movie that's why!
Terminator:Salvation
WHY THE HELL WERE THEY EVEN HUNTING KYLE REESE?
How do they know he went back in time and is John Connor's father?
Lets say for arguments sake they found info from the first terminator that went back, so they learned that built a time machine that sent a terminator to kill Sarash Connor and this plan failed and ultimately lead to John Connor being born, then why just not build a time machine?
So many plot hole...
Anyone like the fact that Marcus could shut down security but decide one gun was good enough?
T3 was leaps better than this, but this is probably just my initinal disappointment speaking.
Terminator:Salvation
I honestly liked the movie. For me I put it in the guilty pleasure catagory that also contains transformers and probably GI Joe when it comes out. I think one of the reason pepole are kind of hatting on this movie is that they expected way too much out of it. Look the movie franchice is about evil time traveling robots. I would be shocked if there weren't plot and logic holes in a movie like that. Afterall the first three movies did kind of tie the 4th movie's hands as far as what could or couldn't happen.
Plus all the talk about the movie not having any heart is kind of a cop out to me since I really don't think any of the other T movies had a lot of it either. T2 probably came the closest with mother son angel, but eventhen the movie was much more about action and explosions then it was about the family dynamic.
Here's a question though. How many people did an audible gasp or oh snap of some kind when they saw SPOILER arnie's face on the terminator. I was kind of blown away with how much he looked like the original terminator. I would say i heard at least ten people in the movie theatre make some kind of fan boy squeel when they saw him.
Terminator:Salvation
I can recognize that it could be a guilty pleasure movie, and that yes, my expectations were WAY too high. But this is kind of one of those situations where I think the movie should have never been made if they couldn't at least attempt to do it justice.
PROBABLY SPOILERS
When I say no heart, I mean I had no reason to care about anyone. I think Connor and his wife talked one time. I felt nothing for either of them. Connor could have been killed at the end and I'm not sure I would have cared outside the fact that it would have messed up the timeline. I actually felt myself thinking during the final fight scene, "oh just kill him already, aren't you a TERMINATOR?"
Rumored alternate ending:
Apparently, and I don't know if this is true, but supposedly the original ending was that Connor did die. But the resistance realized how important he was, so they put his skin on Marcus's super human body. So Connor became somewhat indestructible, thus the legends about him. I kind of dig that better than the cheesy heart transplant...even though I admit it's utterly disturbing.
Terminator:Salvation
that alternate ending would have made it much better. Yeah i understand what you mean about not caring for the characters, especially the relationship that was going on between moon bloodgood (awesome name) and the excon/hybrid-terminator. I really wanted to see more about connor and his inner struggles with his destiny. Like, can he change what he already knows is going to happen, should he do things just for the sake of keeping the same time line in place. What if he doesn't send kyle reece back, does that mean the timeline would be altered and the machines never take over???!?!?
Terminator:Salvation
I kind of felt T3 sucked after my initial viewing too. But since then, I have viewed the film multiple times and it grew on me over time. So much so, that I have revised my review of it and consider it a good picture.
As for Terminator: Salvation, I have mixed feelings about it as well. I rate movies on a 5 star scale with 3 being "average." Here is my review:
Music
Although Terminator fans all have different opinions on time travel theories, one aspect that all agree on is that the Terminator theme is awesome. T1 and T2 understood this and made it prominent in the score. T3 made a huge mistake by only having the main title theme used only during the closing credits. TS used the main title theme throughout the movie, but while correcting the T3 gaffe, covered it up with loud and unnecessary instrumentation and SFX which made the theme hard to pick out. It was too subtle and overwhelmed by unneeded noise.
Directing
I thought the film had some truly gut clenching moments, but not enough to sustain any momentum. Some of the action set pieces were awesome, but I tend to lose interest when CGI takes over and some things still looked pretty fake to me. The story was just really lacking and one aspect of the script really annoyed me. I'll cover this more in detail in the script section. There were some major inconsistencies with the bleak future of Terminator films past. This film was too antiseptic and clean. It also messed with the time line, pretty much making T1 unable to transpire as we knew it. Messing with T1 really pisses me off! T1 Reese says that they "stay down by day, but you can move around at night pretty good." But TS Reese states it as the exact opposite. In T1 Reese explains:
Most of us were rounded up, put in camps for orderly disposal. [Pulls up his right sleeve, exposing a mark]
This is burned in by laser scan. Some of us were kept alive... to work... loading bodies into dumpsters and incinerators. The disposal units ran night and day. We were that close to going out forever. But there was one man who taught us to fight, to storm the wire of the camps...
In short, this didn't happen and now can't according to the time line changes. In T1, Reese served under Perry at TechCom. In TS Reese is a "civilian." These changes irked me to the nth degree.
TS is also set up to have another sequel if they want too.
SFX
TS had a lot of grand scale CGI and some of it was not good. But the worst by far was the T-600 series of Terminators. They looked like crap and so did the facial "ripped away flesh" makeup on the Markus character. The T-600s were laughable looking in that they looked like a guy wearing a bad Halloween skull mask he picked up at Wal-Mart. With the budget this film had, I was like, "Are you kidding me?!"
I also hated the giant HK. I've already seen Transformers and thought this part was completely stupid.
Casting
This is where I had my biggest surprise. What I expected to hate, I liked and what I expected to like, I didn't. When I heard Christian Bale was going to play John Connor, I raised an approving eyebrow. But he was miscast here. After seeing the new Star Trek, I expected to hate Anton Yelchin (Chekov) as Kyle Reese-- but he was excellent! Bale was all wrong in this-- for me anyway. The reason I say so is because of this:
Script
Or should I say a lack of one. Now for what I alluded to in the Directing section: It was as if the writers/director didn't believe in Bale/Yelchin themselves. Throughout the whole movie it was annoyingly pointed out to us that Christian Bale was John Connor and Anton Yelchin was Kyle Reese. Painstakingly so! I've never seen a movie try so hard to sell me on this. They told their full names constantly throughout the film and it bugged the hell out of me.
It also introduced too many changes that won't allow T1 to take place as originally told. For instance in T1:
Kyle Reese: The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human... sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot. I had to wait till he moved on you before I could zero on him.
Reese has now seen the Arnold T-800, so now he doesn't have to wait to "zero on him" anymore.
Also in T1, Reese says:
Most of the records were lost in the war. Skynet knew almost nothing about Connor's mother. Her full name, where she lives. They just knew the city. The Terminator was just being systematic.
Well, now Skynet knows all about-- Kyle Reese?! And uses him to lure John Connor into their clutches??!! What a load of bull.
Then the Arnie T-800 just tosses JC around Skynet several times instead of just eliminating him. Can we say "filler?" Also, JC survives not one but 2 helicopter crashes. In cases like this, loud and noisy substitute for plot.
There were nods to T1 and T2 interspersed here and there (that slightly raised it's review rating), which was a nice touch and fans will enjoy them. Humor was nonexistent though. As dark as T1 was, there was also elements of humor that got big laughs (FU A-hole). T2 and T3 had some as well, but TS only had one fleeting appearance. And it wasn't enough. Arnie's cameo offered up a difference of opinion. My friend said it sucked. I thought it was pretty cool, but way too short. And no Dr. Silberman! Boo!
I give TS a 3 star rating. But if you want to see this, do it on the big screen. It doesn't totally suck.
