Tina was out of town and under the weather for this one, so I took on Legacy. I understand it's not the greatest story ever told. but I still enjoyed the film and recommend it to all scifi fans.
Comments:
I really liked the movie, I
I really liked the movie, I was confused a few times, but then again I've never seen the first film. I guess the one thing I have to say about it though, is that it was really blue.
Legacy
I Have to say that i agree with you 100%. saw tron legacy friday opening night.HE DEFINITLY NEEDED FACE TIME.
Legacy
Examz ended so finally got to watch it! It was awesome!!! The visuals were spellbinding! I didn't watch the orignal Tron so I was a little confused throughout but I was satisfied since this movie was eye candy. The CGI and cinematogrophy are oscar worthy. The movie wasn't perfect or the best of this year, but it satisfied my movie craving and got rid of the ache i had from my exams. I also give it 4/5 stars.Roses are red,Violets are blue, Optimus Prime is awesome, this poem doesn't rhyme, NOW GIVE ME YOUR FACE!
legacy
the movie was great and tron did fufil his legacy by saving a user
Almost Complete...
Yeh, I liked it and anjoyed it a lot and really want some more of it... I think it needs more.*SPOILERS*-Why use a quite known actor like Cillian Murphy to portray Dillinger's son and in a quite powerful position in ENCOM, to just put him in a 4 min scene as THE ENCOM OS 12 to get embarrased by Sam and his dog? My point being, there should be a Tron 3. This Character has to have more development.-At the sea of simulation, Rinzler turned again into Tron. His colors changed and his fate is left unknown. So, there should be a Tron 3. This Character needs some kind of real redemption; since he was almost the protagonist in the first one and the movie has HIS name.-Alan was married to Lora and this is said in the movie. Did Lora quit programming? Nah... So, Yori has to return. Or at least fans want that quite badly -Cindy Morgan- oh yeah!!!
I, like several other people
I, like several other people in this thread, have not seen the original. I saw this on christmas, and I can only say one thing... THAT WAS SO COOL!!!!! THE RIDE LIGHT-CYCLES AND FLY LIGHT JETS, AND THE HAVE COMPUTER FRISBEES OF DEATH!! THE HAVE DIGITAL GLADIATORS AND THERE SCARS ARE ALL CUBEY! AND EVERY FEMALE CHARACTER IS ATTRACTIVE!I completely agree with Daniel's review. They needed to actually explain who Tron was, and why the movie is named after him, and he needed to be a major enemy for the beginning. That's not just because the movie is named after him and he only got one scene, but also because this movie came out a generation after the last! And people like me who haven't seen the original need some explanation! What daniel said about the give and take thingy was pretty true too, even though I didn't notice it when watching the movie. I really didn't get how Flynn was so powerful, did he even create he grid world? wasn't he trying to hack into the grid world when he got trapped in? what the heck was the deal?
See the Original.
Simple as the subject. See the original. Everyone SEE THE ORIGINAL. The original is a masterpiece of a movie. If you have not seen it, see it now. You guys only are confused if you don't know anything about the first Tron movie. I mean, don't blame the movie if you don't understand it. Even 2 generations apart, a sequel is a sequel.SPOILER ALERT - I was sitting there watching the end and I literally was saying out loud, "And HERE'S Tron! No...Tron's coming...NOW! no...NOW...NOW...NOW. I figured Tron could swim. I mean, he turned blue and that was so damn epic. I figured he could have swam to the portal and climbed up. Then while Clu was trying to climb up in the background the reggulator would explode and crash down and Tron would have an epic battle with Clu and the two of them would beat the living hell out of each other. During that time, Flynn could use his epic master powers that we were waiting for to make the bridge reappear. Then they teleport outside into the user world, meanwhile Clu is about to kill Tron. Then Flynn runs to the computer and Clu is deleted. Then Sam and his dad come back to Encom and bring the same awesomeness of the Tron world to the real world. BUT NO. Tron had to drown. And everything went badly.
Regarding the missing "bit"
Regarding the missing "bit" character, there were little models in Flynn's room that represented the bit so homage was paid in that way :-)I have to say though, the young Flynn model wasn't that well done. I just kept thinking how fake he looked every time he spoke. His hair was well done, but his face just screamed computer model. If the Avatar models could be photorealistic I would have thought young Flynn could be. Maybe blue aliens are just easier to do, I don't know. Also, regarding what was said about more explanation needed about Tron and who he was etc., that's what the first movie was for! You don't watch Transformers 2 and wonder what that little stone is and why it has those powers, or why that kid's car turns into a big robot.
Music rocks!
Story wasent great, ditto on acting but i loved the soundtrack! absolutlely marvulos, marvelous
Recap (Possible Spoilers)
They're are confirmed reports that they are making a TRON 3. Cillian Murphy will probably be in the third one.And by the way I have a gut feeling TRON is still alive. The reason I say this is because in the first one, when RAM (may he rest in pieces), TRON, and, Flynn were drinking waterwhen they escaped, they became stronger, didn't you notice TRON didn't get derrezed, he just turned bright blue!!!!!!!!!!! So that is why I think TRON will like become super powerful in the third one. TRON ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HISHE
My HISHE:- At the beginning Flynn has to progrram every thing in a way that if his creation get corrupted on him, he can delete them with out dying in the process.- When sam comes to Flynn's house, Flynn has to make a super FAST plain and get to the portal.- Flynn should be able to freeze anyone he wants- Flynn should be able to use "ctrl" + "Z".- Flynn should have send a page to Allan from day numoro 1 telling him/instructing him to delete Clu.I can go on and on...But like the "Tron Rap HISHE" says: 'But That's no fun to animate!!'.Never the less, when u see part one, it makes legacy more interesting..
A different Film
I remember watching Caps' Indiana Jones short and thinking that it showed the bitterness of having a childhood hero killing the dream*. Well, if Indiana Jones is Caps hero, then to make as me bitter would be to piss all over TRON. <GENERAL SPOILER ALERT>** as I can't be bothered to flag individual spoils I finally watched TRON the other day and when I finished the film I was left in an ambiguous state*** - not knowing what I really felt. The new film was a totally different beast to the original, which made it hard to compare. In some ways it was vastly superior - the special effects and some of the cinematography. In others, it failed to live up to the original. I can't accuse the film of being bad - certainly is was no Inception, but equally it wasn't a Transformers either. I liked the music from Daft Punk (and the cameo), I liked the updated aesthetic, I even liked Michael Sheen's David Bowie impersonation even though I didn't know what that part of the film was for. I even didn't have a problem with the digitally enhanced version of Jeff Bridges. What I did have problems with: everyone wearing a face obscuring helmet (and yet not needing/wearing one when riding a motorbike in the real world): the lack of Tron time; the lack of version upgrades (after all, the Tron of 1982 would be barely relevant today); How there was a complete lack of relevance to the real world (I'll come back to this); Clouds in cyber space; a not very evil Encom (no discount for students - that is so evil); Not enough Cillian Murphy; And a bit too much Lebowski creeping into Jeff Bridges performance. In the original, the actors played the programmers in the real world and their programmes on Encomms network. The film was a representation of the closed world of IBM and a little fear of them. Encomms "MCP" programme is the villain of the movie and is doing evil things like hacking the Pentagon and planning cyber domination. Between the action flipping between the real and cyber worlds and the actors bridging the gap, you got a real sense of connection. No such thing in Tron: Legacy. Firstly, Sam's digitization is so quick that it made it hard to understand what had happened to him. Secondly, once on the grid it never returns to the real world. Thirdly, if it were following the pattern of the original, it would be set in Encomms new OS 12 and Cillian Murphy would play the evil character in the cyber world. Finally, there is the promise of something good the ISOs vs the threat of something bad (invasion of the real world by programmes). I really didn't understand what benefit the ISOs were actually going to bring to our world (or what was in it for her other than years a science experiment) and the threat from Clu was so late in the day that it didn't get a chance to really register - both lack of good & bad outcome led to a certain ambivalence to what happened to the characters. Ultimately, I guess what I want to say is that the film was ok, but it confused the vision of the original for aesthetics. Essentially it was a totally different allegory that just happened to be set in a cyber world. I will see this a second time to make my mind up - It's a bit harsh to criticise it for having a different message to the original. One final disappointment - there were no Angry Birds anywhere in the film. * I could have been reading more into that short than was actually there.** Two steps up from Major alert and one step from Colonel alert.***Near Alabama--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Transcending the Arse of Reason in time for last orders
