Wes Anderson is probably the master of details when it comes to film making, which makes his films take on a unique personality of their own. The Darjeeling Limited does not disappoint with a cast of quirky, meaningful characters and emotional visuals.
The Darjeeling Limited is the story of three brothers who reunite after a year to take a spiritual journey through India and to bond again as brothers. Each of the three brothers has their own issues and as the story unfolds we see them conquer their demons and grow closer to each other.
It’s no wonder that the same actors always want to work with Wes Anderson. His movies always have the most compelling character driven storylines. He does an excellent job of developing each of the three brothers, who are very distinctive. The subtle and almost natural acting required to deliver these characters in a truthful way must be unbelievably challenging. All three main actors (Wilson, Brody, and Schwartzman) do an incredible job.
I always enjoy Wes Anderson’s films, but for me they become more powerful and amazing the more I think about them and watch them. I think this film is truly full of so much sadness and searching and ultimately a little bit of peace. I find it fascinating how a writer and director can wrap up so much emotion into a story and also make it delightful and humorous as well.
The brothers begin to trust each other again and decide to go find their mother. Although their mother disappoints them, the journey has proved to be exactly what all three of them needed to move forward in their lives.
