Blades of Glory

Since Tina is still on leave we’ll be changing up review authors till she returns.

Blades of Glory.  I feel like I should start by telling everyone that I have grown up in a house with two women who absolutely LOVE figure skating.  I have seen my share of Olympic championships, national competitions, single skating, double skating, the cutting edge.  I’ve seen a lot.  I will also state, that this has never been my choice.  I DO NOT LIKE FIGURE SKATING.  It bores me to no end.  I believe it’s extremely difficult.  I think figure skaters are amazing athletes.  But when it comes down to it, the only reason I’ll watch a figure skating event is because the girl skating at the time is cute.  Also I’ll just go on record and let it be known that this is really the ONLY reason any hetero guy watches these things.

That really has nothing to do with Blades of Glorry, but now that that’s out of the way, I'll get to it.

Walking out of this movie I was wondering how many films has Will Farrell saved just by being in them?  This movie is so dumb, yet Farrell makes you laugh.  I would say that Jon Heder and Will Farrell are a perfect combination, but they didn’t quite click if you asked me.  This could be because rather than putting a decent script together that would make you enjoy and love these two characters forever and ever (Tommy Boy) instead someone erased all that dialog and replaced it with crotch jokes. A Lot of Crotch Jokes.

But something tells me that making a life long memorable comedy wasn’t the goal here.  It’s a goofy story, meant to be silly, and that’s exactly what it is.  Side note:  Jenna Fischer is smoking hot in this movie and is all the time.

 So How Does It End?

Farrell and Heder actually fly off out of the arena into the sky with crappy rocket effects on their ice skates.  I’m not joking. That’s how it ends.

So whatever, it’s a pointless comedy.  It’s got some good jokes in it, but you’ll forget about it after the next day.  I give it 3 out of 5
