“There is no charge for awesomeness.” Okay, maybe the price of a movie ticket. But I highly recommend you pay to see the awesomeness of Kung Fu Panda.
Kung Fu Panda is about a Panda named Po that has admired the Kung Fu masters for years and dreams of becoming one himself. As fate would have it, Po gets that chance and an opportunity to save the village.
A fun cast of voices, including Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman, bring these great characters to life with a lot of heart. The action sequences are excellent with an interesting mix of freezing and slow motion that bring to mind some of the best. The story was simple but solid with great dialogue and funny comic relief.
When the evil Tai Lung returns to destroy his master, Po fights him to save the day. He realizes that the “secret ingredient” is just believing that you are special.
The best part of the ending is after Po returns to make sure his master Shifu is alright. After Shifu explains that he finally has peace, Po lies down next to him and tries to be quiet and have a peaceful moment. His enormous size and excruciating effort to not talk make it the most simple and hilarious moment I have seen in a while. The kids in the theater could not stop laughing and their giggles were contagious.
Stay after the credits for a sweet scene…and to enjoy the amazing artwork contained in the credits!
This movie is really entertaining for both adults and kids. I have a feeling its success will bring “skadoosh” into our vocabulary. I give it a super strong 4 out of 5.
